Residents from Cherry Garth enjoyed a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine as they marked International Picnic Day with a visit to the Holmer Green Jubilee Sensory Garden.

The outing gave residents the opportunity to spend time outdoors, enjoy the sights and scents of the community garden and share light refreshments together.

International Picnic Day is celebrated around the world each year and encourages people to come together outdoors to enjoy good food, good company and time in nature. For residents at Cherry Garth, the occasion provided the perfect opportunity to get out into the local community and enjoy a change of scenery.

"It was a lovely afternoon. The garden was beautiful and it was nice to sit outside, enjoy the fresh air and spend time with everyone."

The sensory garden, which has been designed to engage visitors through colour, texture and fragrance, proved particularly popular with residents, many of whom enjoyed reminiscing about their own gardens and sharing memories of summer picnics with family and friends.

Kelsie, Activities Coordinator at Cherry Garth, said:

"The sensory garden was the perfect place for residents to relax, enjoy the fresh air, there were lots of smiles and everyone had a really enjoyable afternoon."

As the afternoon drew to a close, residents returned home with happy memories of a simple but enjoyable day spent outdoors, celebrating International Picnic Day together.
