Residents have new Amazon tablets thanks to donation by Oxfordshire Crossroads
“It’s a great idea, I enjoy watching videos and I’ve been able to use the tablet at my leisure.” Mick, resident at The Meadows
Local charity Oxfordshire Crossroads has donated 20 Amazon tablets to OSJCT care homes for use by residents. The six care homes which received the tablets are Isis House and Longlands both in Oxford, Meadowcroft in Thame, Langford View in Bicester, Stirlings in Wantage and The Meadows, Didcot.
Each home now has three or four tablets for residents to use, in addition to the home’s stock of iPads. The tablets are used for family zoom calls, to access entertainment, education, or games, read books or to view favourite photographs. Residents also use them to watch their favourite TV programmes when they can’t get to the communal TV lounges.
Mick, aged 88 and a resident at OSJCT The Meadows, uses a tablet to watch videos of trains, as he used to work on the railways. He said: “It’s a great idea, I enjoy watching videos and I’ve been able to use the tablet at my leisure.”
Linda, from Oxfordshire Crossroads said: “We were delighted to donate these Amazon tablets to OSJCT care homes for use by their residents.”
Michelle, Bursar, at The Meadows said: “This is a very generous donate by Oxfordshire Crossroads. Many of our residents use these tablets to connect with family members and friends. They also use them for research and entertainment.”
Oxfordshire Crossroads offers support and services for carers and people with care needs in Oxfordshire and West Berkshire as well as the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
