Residents make Guy Fawkes for local firework display
Everyone had lots of fun getting involved in producing the Guy Fawkes
Residents at Grace Care Centre worked together to produce their very own Guy Fawkes which was used on the bonfire in Mundy Playing Fields for the Thornbury Round Table Fireworks display on Saturday night.
As part of their varied programme of activities, residents at the care home shared plenty of laughter stuffing clothes with bundles of hay and equipping their Guy Fawkes with a fancy top hat ready for the occasion.
The Thornbury Round Table Fireworks Display is always popular, and this year was no different with tickets completely selling out!
As well as a bonfire, the event featured hot food, drinks, prizes and of course a spectacular fireworks display. All the proceeds from the event were donated back to local charities. Thornbury Youth Club also joined in and created their own Guy Fawkes for the show.
Rebecca Cox is the Activities Coordinator at Grace Care Centre and worked with the organisers of Thornbury Road Table Fireworks to put this in place.
Reflecting on the completion of Grace Care Centre’s Guy Fawkes, Rebecca said: “We had so much fun making our Guy Fawkes. Our residents enjoy being creative and it was clear they got great joy out of the fact that this was going to be used in the local community. I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at Thornbury Round Table for making this possible, and to everyone from Lodge Farm Trees who arranged for the hay to be delivered.”
