Residents and staff at Grace Care Centre reap benefits of Magic Table
The brand-new Magic Table has been a revelation for everyone at Grace Care Centre.
Grace Care Centre has introduced an innovative Magic Table into the home which is proven to deliver several benefits for residents and staff.
The Magic Table is a digital touch-screen device which allows users to play interactive games, both individually and as part of a group. The cutting-edge product has been proven to encourage social and physical stimulation with specific benefits for those with a diagnosis of dementia.
Another advantage of the product is that it is portable, which has proven particularly useful at a time when lockdown measures across the country have made it difficult to run varied activity programmes. Entertainers are currently unable to come into the home and restrictions are in place to prevent residents coming together in large groups.
Having been in place for a few weeks, the team has already noticed several residents significantly benefiting from the Magic Table.
Leanne Duffety, Head of Dementia Care at Grace Care Centre, said: “Since the introduction of our Magic Table a few weeks ago, we have seen a positive effect on the well-being of our residents with reduced anxiety, apathy and restlessness.”
“Engagement levels with the device are high and this has helped to further strengthen relationships with staff and residents. We have also seen an increased interaction between residents during this time, particularly from those with a diagnosis of dementia who are now benefiting from the physical and social stimulation the Magic Table brings.”
