Residents at Langford View out for coffee

A resident's wish to go out for Sunday coffee came true thanks to a fellow resident at Langford View, after she generously donated her coffee for 2 prize won at a local community raffle.

A thoughtful act of kindness between two residents at Langford View Care Home in Bicester has created a special memory and highlighted the strong friendships that make the home’s community so special.
Resident Gillian won an afternoon tea for two voucher during a raffle held at the recent Launton Ladies FC football tournament. The prize was generously donated by local business Launton Village Coffee Shop, supporting the event and helping to bring the local community together.

During a residents’ meeting, fellow resident Connie shared a simple wish: she would love to enjoy a coffee out on a sunny day and spend time relaxing in the local community. Remembering Connie’s wish, Gillian decided to share her raffle prize with her, offering her voucher so they could enjoy the experience together. Her kind gesture meant Connie’s wish could become a reality, creating an opportunity for the two residents to enjoy a meaningful day out.

The pair visited Launton Village Coffee Shop, where they enjoyed coffee, conversation and plenty of smiles as they spent time together away from the home. The outing provided a chance to reconnect with the local community, enjoy familiar surroundings and create new memories with a friend.
For Connie, the visit was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy one of the simple pleasures she had been hoping for, while for Gillian, it was a chance to share her good fortune and make someone else happy.
The moment perfectly reflects the warm and supportive environment at Langford View, where residents are encouraged to follow their interests, maintain friendships and support one another to enjoy meaningful experiences.

Patricia Pita, Home Manager at Langford View Care Home, said: “At Langford View, we believe it’s the little moments that often create the biggest impact. Gillian’s thoughtful gesture towards Connie is a wonderful example of the kindness, friendship and sense of community we strive to nurture every day. It was lovely to see the two residents enjoying time together and making the most of a sunny afternoon in the local community. We are incredibly grateful to Launton Village Coffee Shop for donating the raffle prize and to Launton Ladies FC for bringing everyone together through such a fantastic community event.”

The afternoon was a reminder that even the simplest gestures can bring great joy, strengthen friendships and help residents continue to enjoy the experiences that matter most to them.
