Rodley House hosts a wedding party for a residents’ daughter on her special day
Ellie Gyba wanted her dad, John, to be a special part of her wedding but realised it would be difficult for him to manage such a busy day with so many people, so the wedding came to Rodley House.
Ellie and her fiancé, Janusz, planned their wedding in Longhope, the village where Ellie grew up. They had a church ceremony at All Saints Church and then the wedding reception at May Hill Village Hall, nestled in the countryside in Longhope.
The wonderful team at Rodley House held a small celebration at the home the day after the wedding. Dawn, Activities Coordinator at Rodley House, ensured Ellie and Janusz were able to involve her dad and made it truly special. Karla, Home Manager ensured all procedures were followed to make it a safe day as well as a day filled with love.
Ellie said, “The staff at Rodley House made my dream come true: my dad was at my wedding, something for the last 10 years since his debilitating stroke that I did not think was possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you”.
The team decorated the front of the home and the garden, preparing a gazebo in case of bad weather with tables and chairs and wedding decorations. John was dressed in a lovely wedding suit and the team made sure he was comfortable in his wheelchair. The newlyweds had photos in the garden with John and their families and the team threw confetti. The residents and team at Rodley House wished the happy couple the best for their married life as they cut a small wedding cake and toasted with a glass of fizz to their happiness as a family.
