Sisters Reunited at Chestnut Court
Iris has been all smiles since being reunited with her sister.
A couple of weeks ago Chestnut Court was delighted to welcome a new resident, Muriel, into the home. Muriel was accompanied by a local paramedic and greeted on her arrival by our Bursar, Rachael.
“As soon as she arrived, Muriel seemed really happy to be at Chestnut Court.” said Rachael.
Whilst giving Muriel a tour of Chestnut Court, Rachael was asked by the paramedic if they had a lady called Iris living at the home. When she confirmed this was the case, Muriel excitedly exclaimed: “she is my sister!”
It was at that moment that Muriel was taken upstairs to see Iris outside her room.
Rachael, who has worked at Chestnut Court for 3 years, said: “It was an amazing moment that I will never forget.”
Iris was, of course, equally as delighted to be reunited with Muriel. For the last couple of weeks, Iris has been delighted to share this news with staff as well as other residents, all with a huge smile on her face.
“We are two of 9 children. Muriel is the oldest and I am the third child. We used to spend lots of time outside together when we were younger. I can’t wait to show her our allotment. Muriel used to come to visit me with her friend every Wednesday here, so she knows a lot about Chestnut Court already.”
The team at Chestnut Court have also received a huge morale boost from this.
Gence, Home Manager at Chestnut Court, said: “This is a fantastic story and it is great to see Iris and Muriel reunited at Chestnut Court. We are all looking forward to seeing them spend more time together moving forward.”
