A special Memory Bear to mark a meaningful transition at Lent Rise House
Residents and colleagues at Lent Rise House in Burnham are marking an important moment in the home’s history with a very special keepsake, a Memory Bear made from retired Fremantle Trust uniforms.
The bear has been lovingly created by Maggie May Bears using fabrics that many team members recognise well. For staff and residents alike, it’s a simple but meaningful way to remember the home’s journey as part of The Fremantle Trust, while also looking ahead to the next chapter as part of The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT).
In September 2025, Lent Rise House joined OSJCT following the merger between The Fremantle Trust and The Orders of St John Care Trust. While day-to-day life in the home remains the same — with the same people, care and community — the Memory Bear offers a quiet reminder of the homes journey and the people who have helped shape it over the years.
As the bear was placed in a central area of the home, team members shared stories and memories from their time with The Fremantle Trust, reflecting on how much the home has grown while keeping the same values at its heart.
Cheryl Wheatley, Activities Coordinator at Lent Rise House, said:
“This bear means a lot to us. It represents our history and the people who have been part of it, while also reminding us that our commitment to caring for residents with warmth and compassion continues now as part of OSJCT.”
