Spencer Court residents still laughing while enjoying safe activities
Residents at Spencer Court have been enjoying a range of socially-distanced activities over the past few weeks, organised by Activities Coordinator, Samantha Light.
From manicures to seated exercise, boules to gardening, painting to puzzles, and everything in-between, Samantha has devised a varied programme of pastimes to suit all residents’ tastes.
Like all homes operated by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), Spencer Court is following robust hygiene and social distancing protocols which all activities need to adhere to strictly. Samantha has used these protocols as an opportunity for more one-to-one time with residents and to plan very tailored activities that everyone can enjoy within their social bubbles.
She explained: “Usually we are able to go on trips and enjoy group activities together. With the enhanced protocols we need to be more mindful of infection control, so each activity is tailored to allow for this.
“For example, residents played socially-distanced indoor boules within their social bubbles and the equipment was cleaned thoroughly between each person’s turn.
"The warm weather has enabled us to enjoy some seated exercise and gardening outside in the fresh air and all indoor activities can be spaced to allow enough room for each resident to socially-distance.”
