Spotlight on our Housekeeping Dream Team
The Housekeeping team have gone above and beyond over the past few months.
Like all our staff at Grace Care Centre, our Housekeeping team has always played a key role in the day to day running of the home. However, over the past couple of months, they have gone above and beyond to help ensure our residents, staff and visitors remain safe.
The team is made up of 8, including Head Housekeeper Sam, Jacob, Shannon, Kyle, Dawn, Ellie-Mae, Alya and Rhianne. Their roles within the home range from looking after the laundry to keeping the home clean, tidy and free of infections.
Over the past few months, the importance of their roles has been paramount as they ensure surfaces throughout the building are regularly wiped down and disinfected. In terms of the impact this had on the day to day work of the team, Jacob said: “To start with, we have never been through as many cleaning products!”
It is a tribute to the team, as with all staff in the sector, that they have had the ability to focus on the role in hand and take the changes in their stride. Shannon illustrates this when talking about the biggest impact Covid-19 has had on them at work. “We really miss sitting down closely as a team, with other staff members and residents. We are all looking forward to being able to do this in groups again as things start to return to normal.”
It is perhaps no coincidence then, that 2 words came up when they were asked about the best part of working at Grace Care Centre. “Residents” and “Team”.
Outside of work, the team has been impacted by Covid-19 like everybody else. They are missing time socialising with friends, noticing pets becoming increasingly attached and generally approaching things with a bit more caution.
Peter Moore, General Manager at Grace Care Centre, said of the Housekeeping team: “They have been fantastic and epitomise our values as an organisation. It is important we don’t forget the work this team has put in over the past few months with a dramatically increased workload. On behalf of the staff, our residents and local community – thank you for all you have done and continue to do!"
