Spring is coming and residents at Langford View are eagled-eyed for wildlife sightings
Frieda and the new wildlife book table at Langford View
During daylight hours, many residents at Langford View sit in the lounge looking for wildlife outside the windows. One resident saw a squirrel run along the top of the fence and sometimes stop, look up at them and then carry on running.
Just recently, the residents have been watching the trees. They explained how they looked dead over winter but since all the rain and sunshine, new buds appearing on the trees and bushes!
Residents were asked if they would like some bird books and binoculars to compare the birds and to see them up close. A bird watching table was created in the lounge with binoculars and bird books, one of which has bird sounds and a lovely CD of outside sounds.
Anne said: “The lounge is my favourite place to sit, I go there to watch the birds and clouds. The lounge always makes me feel relaxed and I love to sing in there too.”
Frieda (pictured above) told a story about how her father used to wear a hat with birdseeds on top so the birds would feed from his hat.
Elizabeth shared how she had seen a kingfisher where she used to live. She said that if we wanted to see one, then we had to be quiet around water.
