Tea Tasting Morning starts the resident-led Menu Choices
At St Wilfrid’s Priory Care Home we are blessed with a plethora of local food and drink suppliers, and we are starting the process of bringing this local produce onto our menu selections, with the residents making decisions on what to include.
The first stage is an afternoon tea, but with a difference. To create the much-loved experience of going to a traditional tea shop, each day the residents will be able to choose from a selection of loose leaf black, green or fruit teas. This will then be made in an individual tea pot and served to them with a cake or two. There will also be ‘guest’ teas added to the mix, which will have a seasonal flavour.
We were delighted to welcome local supplier Erik Childerhouse from ‘The Tea and Biscuit Club' on Arundel High Street this morning, who brought 20 teas up for us to smell and try. The residents gave some great feedback on what they did and did not like, choosing 10 teas to have as their standard set. One of our residents, who normally dislikes tea, really enjoyed a strong Lapsong Souchong with a slice of lemon, so that tea is now on the list.
