Louise Moore has worked at The Coombs for almost five years in a variety of roles, and it is with a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye to Louise as she moves on to her new challenge.
Louise talks through her time at The Coombs below.
When did you start working at The Coombs?
I started working with The Coombs as a Night Nurse in July 2015. Prior to working at The Coombs, my nursing career was predominantly in blood and cancer nursing, but I really enjoyed the time I spent in nursing homes before and during my training and therefore decided to apply for the role.
Tell us about the roles you have had during your time at The Coombs
Thankfully I was successful with my application and I spent two years working as a Night Nurse. I then progressed into the Head Nurse role for a couple of years before picking up the role of Deputy Home Manager and Acting Home Manager earlier this year.
What is the best part about working at The Coombs?
The best part about working at The Coombs is getting to know our residents really well over a period of time. It is rewarding to see our residents come to us and start relaxing whilst making new friends and genuinely enjoying themselves.
I also love working in the local community I grew up in and having the opportunity to give quality care back into this community.
Is there a particular memory that comes to mind when you think of your time at The Coombs?
I often think back to my time as a Night Nurse and the conversations I would have with residents that they wouldn’t normally talk about during the day. Night-time is often when peoples’ worries, and fears come to the surface.
Being the person that they could talk to over a cup of tea is a memory I will always hold with me.
Finally, what would you say is your biggest accomplishment at The Coombs?
The Coombs is well known in the community for giving a high quality of care and that is something I am very proud of. We recently had a quality inspection and were lauded for the high levels of care we deliver.
There is a fantastic warm and caring atmosphere running throughout the building and I would encourage everyone to come and have a look for themselves.
