Tony and His Love of the Royal Family
Our Activities Co-ordinators have enjoyed spending some time reminiscing with Tony
If you want someone knowledgeable on your pub quiz team for a round on the Royal family… Tony is the man for the job!
Everyone at Grace Care Centre was sorry to hear about the passing of Prince Philip last month on the 8th April and knowing Tony’s fondness of the Royal Family, our Activities Co-ordinators made sure they took the time to sit down and spend some time with Tony.
Emma is one of the Activities Co-ordinators at Grace Care Centre and said: “We had a lovely afternoon reminiscing about Prince Philip and the Royal family with Tony. There were some tears as well as lots of laughter and a few google searches to get to the bottom of who is who!! All in all, it was a lovely afternoon.”
Even since being a child, Tony has always loved the Royal family. One of his most poignant memories is watching the coronation of Queen Elizabeth. His parents bought a TV specifically to watch the coverage with family members in their lounge. As a child Tony lived in London, in fact, he lived close to Buckingham Palace.
Grace Care Centre has also started a virtual activity with the Royal Collection Trust. Yesterday we had our first virtual session which gave our residents an introductory session on the Royal Collection Trust and all they do. Next week, we will have the opportunity to look at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.
Once restrictions allow, Tony is also looking forward to taking a trip to in person Windsor Castle - along with the some of the team and other residents at Grace Care Centre.
Recently, Tony has enjoyed spending some time in the cinema room at Grace Care Centre watching the hit Netflix series ‘The Crown’. “He is glued to the screen and enjoys reminiscing on the events.” Said Emma.
