Veronica shows her affection for care team with a tribe of knitted characters
Talented knitter Veronica, who lives at Marden Court has handmade several knitted versions of team members at the Care Home in Calne. Creations, complete with name badges, include Chef Julie, Carers Emma and Phil, Dawn the Activities Co-ordinator and Head of Care Debbie.
Veronica took up crafting later in life after losing her husband to cope with acute loneliness. She started with crochet and then learned knitting to help combat pain from rheumatoid arthritis in her hands and keep them busy.
Veronica said: “Since losing my husband, knitting and the team at Marden Court have helped me to bring myself back. The lovely handyman here created a knitting bookcase for me where I store my wool and keep it colour coded. I like to knit because it helps me to be creative. I do not follow a pattern and I surprise myself sometimes with what I have been able to make.”
The team at Marden Court were thrilled with the knitted versions of themselves made by Veronica.
