VJ Day Celebrations at Chestnut Court
Residents and the team at Chestnut Court went back in time to celebrate VJ Day
As the country celebrates Victory in Japan (VJ) Day, Chestnut Court has gone the extra mile to mark the occasion by taking themselves back to the 1940s.
The home, in Quedgeley, took the opportunity go back to the 1940s with music, food, fancy dress and decorations all designed to be reminiscent of the time.
Throughout the week, the home has also been encouraging residents to share their memories of living through the Second World War. You can read these on OSJCT Chestnut Court’s Facebook page here.
The day was made even more special after the VE Day celebrations at the home were impacted by lockdown earlier in the year.
Gence Mekkunnel, Home Manager at OSJCT Chestnut Court, said: “Our staff and residents have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating VJ Day in style. It makes me very proud to work with such a wonderful team who have gone above and beyond throughout Covid-19 and VJ Day has been yet another example of this.
