Wedding dress exhibition at The Lakes Care Centre
Residents and visitors were able to take a walk down memory lane and reminisce over the wedding themed display
Members of the community and residents kindly donated their wedding dresses for the display at The Lakes Care Centre where a gallery was made of the dresses, shoes, veils and wedding albums for all to see. It was a great opportunity for the residents to be able to reminisce about their wedding day and discuss how different times were back then and how traditions have changed.
They had wedding dresses dating back to the 1920’s all the way up to a modern-day blue sequin dress and shoes to match! Residents were able to try on some of the veils and flick through the wedding albums, there were even some beautiful dried flower bouquets.
The oldest piece in the exhibition was a christening gown which dated back to the Victorian era, many of our residents had similar gowns for their children which had been passed down through generations.
We will be displaying some of the dresses at our vintage fayre on Saturday 21st September 1pm – 4pm. We will also have vintage cars, miniature steam train, music and games. Everyone is welcome to join us for the fayre.
