Wellford Gardens care home, has been celebrating creativity, connection, and community spirit this Easter through a delightful collaboration with Wheatley CE Primary School.
As part of the home’s Easter Fayre festivities, pupils from the school were invited to take part in a friendly Easter egg design competition. Children shared photos of their colourful and imaginative creations, bringing a wonderful splash of creativity into the home.
Residents at Wellford Gardens had the joyful task of judging the entries, spending time together reviewing each design and chatting about their favourites. The activity sparked laughter, conversation, and a true sense of connection across generations.
The winning design was created by Hugo, aged 8, whose thoughtful and vibrant artwork captured the hearts of the residents. To celebrate his achievement, the home’s kitchen team surprised everyone by turning Hugo’s design into a beautiful Easter cake for all to enjoy.
Rachel Joyce, Home Manager, shared:
“This has been such a lovely partnership. The residents were genuinely touched to be involved, and it’s wonderful to see how community activities like this bring joy to everyone. The children’s creativity really brightened our home.”
Casey, Chef de Partie, added:
“Recreating Hugo’s design was a real pleasure. Watching both Hugo and our residents smile when they saw the finished cake made the whole experience incredibly special.”
The event reflects Wellford Gardens’ commitment to building meaningful local connections and celebrating creativity at every age. A warm congratulations to Hugo, and a heartfelt thank you to all the pupils who took part and helped make the Easter Fayre a truly memorable community celebration.
