Wellford Gardens Care Home in Wheatley is celebrating the outstanding achievement of Night Care Leader Binoy Joy, who has received a prestigious Chairman’s Commendation at this year’s Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) Trust Recognition Awards.
Binoy was recognised for his exceptional contribution as the home’s Acoustic Monitoring Lead, playing an instrumental role in introducing, developing and embedding innovative acoustic monitoring technology into everyday care practices.
From the early stages of Wellford Gardens’ development, Binoy has demonstrated outstanding commitment, technical expertise and leadership, helping colleagues embrace new technology to enhance resident safety, comfort and wellbeing.
Acoustic monitoring uses discreet sound-based technology to alert colleagues when a resident may need assistance during the night. This enables the care team to respond promptly to individual needs while helping residents enjoy uninterrupted sleep, without the need for unnecessary room checks.
Binoy’s contribution has been about much more than introducing new technology. His dedication has helped ensure the system is effectively understood, developed and integrated into the home’s daily routines, giving colleagues the confidence and knowledge to use it effectively.
His work demonstrates how innovation, when thoughtfully implemented, can make a meaningful difference to residents’ lives, supporting safety and responsive care while maintaining the privacy, dignity, independence and person-centred approach that are so important at Wellford Gardens.
Rachel Joyce, Home Manager at Wellford Gardens, said:
We are incredibly proud of Binoy and the recognition he has received. His contribution to developing and embedding acoustic monitoring at Wellford Gardens has been invaluable. His commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to embrace innovation demonstrate exactly what makes our team so special. Binoy has played an important role in helping us make the most of technology to support our residents, ensuring that innovation always goes hand in hand with compassionate, person-centred care. This commendation is thoroughly deserved, and we are delighted to see his hard work recognised.
The OSJCT Trust Recognition Awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of colleagues and volunteers across the organisation, recognising individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication, leadership, innovation and commitment to improving the lives of residents.
Binoy’s Chairman’s Commendation is a wonderful reflection of his initiative, forward-thinking approach and willingness to go above and beyond his everyday responsibilities. It also highlights the important role that passionate and dedicated colleagues play in continually improving the quality of care and support provided to residents.
Everyone at Wellford Gardens would like to congratulate Binoy on this thoroughly deserved achievement and thank him for the positive difference he continues to make to the home, his colleagues and, most importantly, the residents.
