Smiles and laughter filled Bourne on Tuesday 17 February 2026 as residents from OSJCT Digby Court brought joy to the local community, showing that life in a supportive care home is nothing short of vibrant.
Residents Peter and Peggy, joined by Home Manager Michaela and Area Operations Manager Shelly, headed into town with a simple mission: to brighten as many people’s days as possible.
In the days beforehand, residents enjoyed creating colourful handmade cards with cheerful messages. The activity showcased the creativity we hold within in our homes and the warm, sociable atmosphere that makes everyday life at Digby Court so special.
With cards and small gifts in hand, the group visited local shops, cafés, GP surgeries, dental practices and a nearby nursery. Smiles appeared instantly, conversations flowed, and their thoughtful gestures were warmly received by everyone they met.
As well as spreading kindness, the outing was also about staying active, engaged and connected with their community. Peggy reflected on the experience, saying she had “such a brilliant time getting out into the community and seeing so many people smile.” Her words capture the spirit of life at Digby Court, where residents are encouraged to live purposefully and remain involved in the wider community.
