Whitefriars trio reach Great British Care Awards regional finals
Shelly Smith, Michael Porter and Louise Green will attend the East Midlands finals later in November.
Stamford care home, Whitefriars, is celebrating three finalists in the East Midlands Great British Care Awards 2025. Michael Porter, Night Care Leader, is a Dementia Care Award finalist, Louise Green, Deputy Manager, is nominated for the Frontline Leader Award and Shelly Smith, Home Manager, is a finalist in the Registered Manager Award category.
The trio from Whitefriars care home, run by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), will attend the Awards event on 27 November at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham.
Michael joined Whitefriars in February 2024, having worked in care since the age of 18. He said: “I am totally overwhelmed at being nominated for this award. I feel valued and extremely proud to be part of an amazing team.”
Louise has worked in care for over 10 years and joined Whitefriars, in 2017 as a Senior Carer. She became Whitefriars Deputy Home Manager in April 2022. Louise said: “I feel humbled at being nominated for the Frontline Leader Award. I am incredibly proud of my achievements and grateful to Whitefriars and OSJCT for supporting my dreams.”
Shelly joined OSJCT in 2016 and became Home Manager at Whitefriars in 2018. She has had a long career in care and spent several years working in Spain. Shelly’s door is always open and she invites families to pop in and say hello.
Shelly said: “I am honoured to have been nominated for an award, and I am excited that the three of us are representing Whitefriars at the Great British Care Award East Midlands finals.”
The East Midlands event is one of ten regional Great British Care Awards that take place before the National Awards Final Ceremony which will be in Birmingham in March 2025.
