Why we've invested in acoustic monitoring
Grace Care Centre prioritises residents' sleep through investing in acoustic monitoring

At Grace Care Centre, we pride ourselves on our constant commitment to providing the very best to our residents. It’s at the foundation of every decision we make, and the cornerstone of the environment we have built for the people who call Grace home.
We all know the importance of a fantastic night’s sleep. Sleeping well leads to good physical and mental functioning, a stronger immune system, a better mood, less risk of developing chronic diseases and reduced risk of falls.
Traditionally, care homes have had a huge challenge on their hands when it comes to balancing this need for a good night’s sleep with checking residents are safe and well. Until recently, carers have had to pop into residents’ rooms at regular intervals throughout the night to make sure that all is as it should be and that the resident doesn’t need any help.
These frequent check-ins are very important from a care point of view, but risk repeatedly waking the residents up and thus interrupting those precious hours of sleep and all the benefits they confer.
That’s why we’ve chosen to invest in acoustic monitoring. With this system, sensors are built into residents’ rooms which can detect if they get up from their beds, call out for help, or fall. Not only does this mean that carers can be on hand immediately if a resident needs assistance in the night, it also means that if someone is sound asleep, they can be left alone to get the uninterrupted rest they need to feel fit and well the next day.
At Grace, we’re proud to be making use of this cutting-edge technology so we can provide the very best to the residents in our care. If they fall, or need help, our experienced carers are with them in moments to provide them with whatever they need, but otherwise, they can sleep soundly and uninterruptedly whilst enjoying complete privacy.
Acoustic monitoring also allows carers to track residents’ sleep patterns, allowing for care to be highly personalised and provided at the best possible times. Acoustic monitoring supports residents’ rest without compromising their safety, offering peace of mind to both the residents themselves and their families, as well as the better quality of life which comes with regular uninterrupted sleep.
