Windsor Street Care Centre marks World Alzheimer’s Day
The team recognise the importance of marking this annual day in the calendar.
Each year, World Alzheimer’s Day is held on the 21st September with the aim of raising awareness and challenging some of the stigmas of Alzheimer’s related dementia.
Windsor Street Care Centre is proud to specialise in dementia care. They adopt an innovative and practical approach to caring for those living with dementia.
OSJCT is one of the few care providers who employ our own Admiral Nurses. These are specialist nurses who are supported by Dementia UK. Windsor Street is one of several OSJCT homes to benefit from this.
To mark World Alzheimer’s Day, the team organised a reminiscence activity which has proven benefits for those living with dementia.
Several of our residents sat down with a member of the team to talk through pictures of their life and the memories they have of the time.
Our residents enjoyed having the opportunity to share their stories and the team also felt incredibly privileged to be able to listen to these amazing stories.
Marzanna, Home Manager at Windsor Street Care Centre, said: “Dementia Care is something Windsor Street is very proud to specialise in. We continuingly strive to work with our Admiral Nurses to deliver the highest standard of care for those living with Dementia."
“World Alzheimer’s Day is a very important day in the calendar for us as it helps to raise awareness and challenge stigmas.”
