Windsor Street Celebrate Their Activities Team this National Activity and Professionals Week
They do such wonderful work for our residents – here’s a chance to meet our Activity Coordinators.
Charo and Bea, our dedicated Activity Coordinators at Windsor Street Care Centre, exemplify a person-centered approach in organising a variety of meaningful activities, making sure that the home is a really fun and vibrant place to be.
It’s because of them that our residents have lots of interesting activities, from the favourite "Knit and Natter" sessions, gardening clubs, floristry, and poetry meetings, to trips out like to the pantomime, the library, or to the shops.
Charo and Bea make sure trips are a regular part of the activities calendar, allowing residents to maintain their routines and lifestyle as much as possible, with lots of opportunity for social engagement.
Bea has been an Activity Coordinator at OSJCT since November 2019 and at Windsor Street since September 2022. She is passionate about her role, brings a person-centred approach to her work, and ensures that residents actively participate in community activities. She is also the Dementia and End of Life Champion at Windsor Street Care Centre, focusing on fostering independence among residents. Her qualifications include being a Neuromuscular Massage Therapist, holding a Diploma in Care RQF - Adult Care - Activity Coordinator path, and achieving Principles of End-of-Life Care Level 2 and Level 3. Bea has also completed courses in Grief and Bereavement Counselling Diploma and Dementia Care Level 2. Beyond her professional commitments, Bea leads a Bereavement Cafe and an End-of-Life Cafe, connecting Windsor Street with the Cornerstone Centre Community Hub. In her free time, Bea finds joy in regular seaside visits with her husband and dog Olav, indulging in her passion for body boarding, especially during the winter months.
Charo has been an Activity Coordinator with OSJCT since March 2010. She initially started as a carer and later obtained her NVQ Adult Care Level 2 qualification. In November 2022, she took on the role of Activity Coordinator, and she is also a Dementia Champion. Charo is genuinely passionate about her work, always thinking of unique and engaging activities for residents. Her approach involves encouraging residents to pursue activities they enjoy, fostering a positive and stimulating environment. Outside of her professional commitments, Charo likes spending quality time with her family in Spain. She loves walks along the beach, and countryside trips with her husband. She likes to spend her free time reading books and using her imagination to sew and knit beautiful and meaningful items.
Huge thanks to Bea and Charo – we appreciate everything you do for our residents!
