Residents at The Lakes Care Centre were delighted to welcome Walk with Hawks for a very special visit, bringing the fascinating world of birds of prey right to our home.
Our residents had the wonderful opportunity to meet three beautiful and distinctive birds: Pixie, a European Kestrel; Henry, a Barn Owl; and Pickle, a Burrowing Owl.
The visit was a fascinating and memorable experience, with residents enjoying the chance to see these magnificent birds up close and learn more about their characteristics, habits and natural habitats. There was plenty of excitement throughout the visit, with residents asking questions and discovering interesting facts about each of the birds.
It was particularly lovely to see the smiles on residents’ faces as they met Pixie, Henry and Pickle. The visit also sparked conversations and brought back memories, with many residents sharing stories and experiences of birds and wildlife from their own lives.
Activities and experiences like this play an important role in supporting our residents’ wellbeing. They provide opportunities to try something new, stimulate the senses, encourage conversation and social interaction, and create meaningful moments to share with others. Whether it is meeting animals, enjoying music, getting creative or exploring the outdoors, varied activities can help residents maintain interests, express themselves and create new memories while also bringing enjoyment and a sense of connection to everyday life.
