Meet the team

The talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals on site daily from our own kitchens. We source quality produce for our excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. All-day dining is available for lighter meals and snacks and all dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences.

Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join us. The menus change daily and the kettle is always on. Our chef bakes every day so there is always a fresh cake for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Residents are also encouraged to help prepare their own food and to make snacks whenever they choose.

Andrea began her career with the Trust in September 1995 as a relief carer working in the residential and nursing unit gaining invaluable experience working with the nursing team. Andrea went on to be promoted to the role of Senior Carer and at that time achieved her NVQ Level 2. Andrea then went on to become a Care Leader and achieved her NVQ Level 3. Andrea later became a Home Manager and achieved her QCF Diploma Level 5.

Andrea loves coming to work and has an excellent bond with her team and the residents. Andrea has an open door policy and welcomes in anyone who would like to meet with her.

One of the fond memories is meeting the Duke of Gloucester which was an amazing day and the residents and families loved it!

Andrea loves meeting new people and enjoys the fact that she is helping and supporting others.

Andrea has lots of hobbies, enjoys being a mother, keeping fit and being very sociable.

Head of Care

As a child Sal always wanted to be a policewoman, but whilst at college completing a BTEC diploma she had to complete a 6 month part time work experience placement within a care home environment- It was there that she started my life long career pathway.

Sal worked in a Residential Care Home for the Elderly fresh from College where she progressed from Care Assistant to Senior Care Assistant to Deputy Manager.

In order for Sal to ensure that she had exposure to different client groups she was seconded to a Mental Health Supported Living Scheme with Outreach.

To further enhance her skills and knowledge around working with people, Sal managed a three bed roomed Lone Parent Scheme.

Sal has achieved a NVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care and NVQ 4 in Advanced Leadership and Management alongside many other different qualifications and competency's.

In 2006 Sal became a Deputy Manager for a Domiciliary Care Agency supporting residents living in their own homes, and then later progressed to be a CQC Registered Manager of another Care Agency. Sal wanted to have a better understanding of the health needs of a resident, why they became unwell and what treatment they needed. With this in mind she handed in her notice, and as a mature student attended Lincoln University and achieved her Degree in Adult Nursing, for which she is very proud of.

As a Student Nurse Sal worked closely with NHS England in a campaign around pressure damage and won a prestige award with Bapen for her contribution around "Stop the Pressure" and was asked to deliver workshops to Tissue Viability Nurses around the country and fellow student nurses.

Sal is passionate around palliative & End of Life Care and her life long aspiration is to manage a small Clinical Area of Excellence offering quality care to those residents at End of Life ensuring dignity, respect and compassion within a homely environment.

Sal is at her happiest when she can spend quality time providing emotional & spiritual well being support to her residents.

Away from work Sal enjoys relaxing holidays in the sun, watching action movies and forensic science documentary's.

Sal has three grown up children of whom she is very proud of, she is hoping that within the next few years her life will be filled with grand parenting duties!

Care Leader

Claire started working for OSJCT in August 1992, firstly working as a kitchen assistant but after a few months she decided she would like to work as a Carer. Claire started in care as a relief carer and after a few years she progressed to Care Leader and achieved her Level 2 and 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care to become a Care Leader.

Claire knows that some days can be challenging, rewarding and never the same but that is what she loves about her job, no two days are the same. For Claire, it feels great when you can overcome a challenge and you can make a difference in your resident's life. She find's it very interesting talking to the residents and listening to their life stories and what they have achieved in their lives.

Over the years Claire has had a lot of fun doing many fund raising and sponsored activities for Beckside from a tandem skydive, sponsored walks and dressing up in a variety of costumes to entertain the residents with shows organised at the home !

When she is not working Claire loves to travel abroad and experience the different cultures and foods of the countries she is visiting. Claire also likes to relax doing jigsaw puzzles or reading a good book.

Head House Keeper

Sue is the Head Housekeeper at Beckside and has worked in the care industry for seven years , five of which have been at Beckside where she achieved her NVQ 3 in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership.

Sue's day is varied and she works hard with her team to ensure that the day to day running and cleaning of the home is adhered too, the most exciting part for her is when visitors say positive things about the home.

After many years of working as a Sales Manager both in fitness and footwear, Sue decided she wanted to take on another challenge so trained and went to study as a Therapeutic Counsellor where she gained her Diploma, along side other qualifications linked with counselling.

Sue also has qualifications including the Care Activities Organiser Certificate and a Level 3 in an End of Life Course.

When Sue is not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, eating out and playing with her four grandchildren.

A little unknown fact about Sue is that she used to be an ear model!
