What is Respite Care and how can it help me?

Respite care with OSJCT offers the opportunity to enjoy a short care break in a comfortable, welcoming and friendly environment, taking advantage of a wealth of activities and services.

Respite care can be planned in advance when you or a loved one may need some extra support following an operation, illness or accident or because their carer is on holiday.  

Respite residents usually stay with us for a period of one or two weeks, however it is not unusual for short stays to be repeated, and often our respite residents decide to stay for the longer term once they have experienced life with us here at OSJCT.

Experience new activities

During a period of respite with us your loved one will be invited to join our home’s community and have the opportunity to take part in daily activities which may include arts and crafts, baking, ‘pets as therapy’ sessions or visits from entertainers and local school children. There are also opportunities for residents to join day trips and excursions, or simply relax in the home and enjoy freshly cooked meals, whilst maintaining their independence in the knowledge that our team are there to offer a helping hand and ensure that they enjoy their stay with us to the fullest.

At OSJCT, our approach to respite care is no different to our approach for our longer-term residents. Our residents are at the heart of everything we do, and their wellbeing is paramount. We pride ourselves on delivering care to the highest standards. We try to learn as much as possible about each person who lives with us, so that we can provide them with care and support tailored to their individual needs and preferences.
