Reasons to Choose Residential Care at St Wilfrid’s Priory
It’s Care Home Open Week this week, and while this year we’ve taken the decision to hold it virtually, there is still a lot to show off.
Moving into a care home is never an easy decision to make. Here are just some of the reasons to choose residential care at St Wilfrid’s Priory in Arundel. You might be feeling uncertain about what to expect from a residential home, and these are just some of the benefits as we see them.
There is always someone there
Day or night, whenever you need help in a residential home like St Wilfrid’s Priory, there is someone there for you. That can be very convenient, and it can also be reassuring from a safety perspective, should you take a fall for example.
Companionship
Another benefit of having people around is that you’re far less likely to experience loneliness, which can be a big issue for people. The last eighteen months have been challenging for everyone across the UK, and especially some older people; national focus has been so much directed towards our physical health and keeping everyone safe that we’ve given less attention to our mental wellbeing. The staff at St Wilfrid’s have been working hard on both fronts to ensure our residents have not felt overwhelmed in these very difficult circumstances. We’ve been making the most of things together!
Comfortable, homely surroundings
We’re very fortunate at St Wilfrid’s to have a completely unique setting for our residential home. It’s warm and comfortable and there is always company if you want it. Of course, you have your own space too, with your own individual private room to spend time in whenever you want. We encourage our residents to personalise their rooms and really have them feeling like home.
Regular meals
Whether it’s fish & chips on a Friday, or tea and cake in the afternoon, we care a lot about our food at St Wilfrid’s. Making sure our residents eat and drink properly is a big focus for us as we know that’s one our families’ biggest concerns for their loved ones before they move in with us. Having the right balance of nutrients is important at any age, and especially as we get older.
Activities
Keeping busy is important and having regular events and activities is part of life at St Wilfrid’s. With restrictions continuing to ease, we are getting out and about more again. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more information on what we’ve been up to.
Peace of mind
All of that works together to give peace of mind to both our residents, and their families. Knowing that your loved one will be well looked after and safe offers a great reassurance.
