Roy and Una reunited at Banbury Care Home
Romantic celebration lunch for the married couple of 65 years as Roy moves in to join Una in the care home.
The team at Larkrise Care Centre, in Banbury, were thrilled to organise a very special lunch for married couple of 65 years Roy and Una Timms who have been reunited after living apart, due to health issues, since March. Roy moved into Larkrise earlier this month to be with his wife.
Roy, 89, and Una Timms, 87, lived for many happy years in Bloxham Banbury before failing health led to their move. Una was taken into hospital in March and subsequently moved into Larkrise to receive nursing care. Both Roy and Una live with dementia and Roy was becoming increasingly sad about living apart.
The couple don’t have children, but their supportive nieces and nephews helped to arrange for Roy to move into the care home to be with Una. Roy receives residential care and he visits Una in her room every day.
Home Manager Lyndsay Sard said: “Seeing Una and Roy together is wonderful. Roy especially had missed his wife during their time apart. They spent the afternoon looking at their wedding album together and Una reminded Roy that he didn’t like white bread. It has been such an honour to support this and see them happy together.”
