Tucked away on a quiet street in Banbury, Larkrise Care Centre offers compassionate, individualised care in a calm and friendly setting. We support up to 60 residents with tailored residential, nursing, dementia and respite care — with a particular focus on creating a warm and supportive environment for those living with dementia.

Specialist dementia care and support
Larkrise is home to a dedicated dementia specialist household designed to promote comfort, safety and connection. Our team works closely with residents and their families to offer care that supports memory, dignity and wellbeing.
We are proud to offer access to our Admiral Nurse Team – dementia care specialists trained by Dementia UK. These professionals provide expert advice, emotional support, and reassurance, helping families feel understood and supported at every stage of the dementia journey. We’ve also launched a dementia care resources programme to further strengthen our ability to provide thoughtful, forward-thinking support.
Care that adapts to your needs
Because Larkrise offers a full range of care options – residential, nursing, dementia and respite – residents can remain in familiar surroundings even if their needs change. That continuity can make all the difference, especially for those living with memory loss or long-term health conditions.
Every resident has a personalised care plan, developed in partnership with them and their loved ones. Our experienced, compassionate team is here to ensure residents feel comfortable, respected and well cared for every single day.

A trusted, experienced team
Many of our team members have been part of Larkrise for years, building meaningful relationships with residents and families alike. That consistency helps us offer truly personal care — grounded in understanding, empathy and everyday kindness. It also helps foster the warm, family-like atmosphere that residents tell us makes Larkrise feel like home.
A vibrant, connected community
There’s always something happening at Larkrise. Our dedicated Activities Coordinator plans a lively programme of meaningful activities, creative sessions and community events.
With our own minibus, residents enjoy regular trips to local beauty spots, cafés and attractions. We also welcome visits from local farms — animal therapy is a favourite, offering comfort and sensory stimulation for everyone.
Our welcoming bistro hosts popular social events, including; Dementia Café – first Thursday of each month; Community Coffee and Bingo Morning – second Wednesday of each month.
These events are free and open to everyone - helping Larkrise remain closely connected to the local community.

Not-for-profit, people-first
Larkrise Care Centre is proudly part of The Orders of St John Care Trust, one of the UK’s leading not-for-profit care providers. That means every penny we receive is reinvested into our homes, our residents and the people who care for them. We’re not here to generate profit — we’re here to provide thoughtful, person-centred care in an environment where everyone feels safe, supported and valued.
First class care home. Staff very engaging with residents. Plenty of activities for residents to occupy themselves with. They have bingo, exercise classes and pet ponies are some of the things they do. The staff are very very good. I would live there in a heartbeat.
Son of Resident, Larkrise Care Centre
Whether it’s wet or dry outside, we at OSJCT feel that activities are essential in providing the best caring environment to live in.
Hobbies don’t simply stop when living with us at Larkrise Care Centre. We have a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator who works closely with our residents to create a programme of fulfilling activities and events, tailored around each resident’s requests, hobbies and interests. The programme of events and activities provide a source of fun and laughter, to help each resident live their life to the full and make new friendships.
We are also fortunate to have the support of many volunteers of all ages from the local community, strengthening our links to this thriving market town. Here is a sample of activities on offer:
- Trips to garden centres, cafés, pubs, sporting events, National Trust parks, wildlife parks, aquariums and museums.
- Visit from Pets as Therapy Dogs
- Exercise and wellness activities, for example Seated Yoga, Zumba
- Fun activities with the local toddler and nursery groups
- Board game competitions and quizzes
- Music therapy sessions
- Gardening
- Arts and crafts
- Communal Church services
- Visit from a pop-up farm including ponies, sheep and goats
- Visit from Paro, a therapeutic robotic seal
With so many well-being activities for body and mind on offer, we also recognise that everyone needs some personal space for relaxation and mindfulness for personal reflection. The cosy lounges offer an opportunity for some quiet time or to host family and friends.
And that’s not all:
We’ve had silent discos, hoe downs, Chinese banquets, Oscar parties and so much more. Many of the activities feature Reminiscence Therapy to aid those living with Dementia to remember events, people and places using sight, touch, taste, smell and sound.
The talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals on site daily from our own kitchens. We source quality produce for our excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. All-day dining is available for lighter meals and snacks and all dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences.
Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join us. The menus change daily and the kettle is always on. Our chef bakes every day so there is always a fresh cake for residents, friends and family to enjoy.
Each of the households has their own small kitchen dining room where residents can take their meals if they wish. Residents are also encouraged to help prepare their own food and to make snacks whenever they choose.
