Why Good Mental Health is so Important for the Team at Eresby Hall
At Eresby Hall in Spilsby, we understand that providing exceptional care starts with a strong, cohesive team.
As a people-first home, while our primary focus is on the wellbeing of our residents, the mental health of our team is also important. We took the opportunity to look at the ways we support our own mental health for World Mental Health Day on 10 October.
A supportive, positive work environment is key for delivering high-quality care, and when our team members feel valued and mentally well, we find it reflects in everything we do, and supports our residents in looking after their own mental health.
Prioritising Mental Health
Mental health isn't just about handling stress or preventing burnout; it's about creating a culture where everyone feels heard, respected, and supported. At Eresby Hall, we believe in fostering an environment where mental wellbeing is a collective responsibility. When our team members are at their best, it creates a ripple effect, positively impacting the lives of our residents, their friends and families, and visitors to our home.
Team Building for Better Wellbeing
We have an informal peer support system in place where colleagues can openly share concerns, seek advice, or simply chat. We’ve found this has helped to feelings of isolation, especially during busy periods when the demands of care work can feel particularly challenging.
Eresby Hall’s 3 Top Tips for Good Mental Health:
- Build connections with others. Good relationships are important for your mental wellbeing and for us, that starts at Eresby.
- Stay active. Being active good for your physical health and fitness, and it also promotes positivity for your mental wellbeing too.
- Be in the moment. There is a lot of talk about mindfulness these days, and we believe rightly so. Taking a few moments to appreciate the here and now makes a big difference to the course of our day.
By prioritising mental health and encouraging a team-focused environment, Eresby Hall aims to create a workplace where staff feel supported and appreciated, enabling them to provide the best care possible for our residents. Together, we build a strong, resilient team that thrives even in the most challenging circumstances.
