Tucked away in the peaceful village of Stoke Mandeville, just outside Aylesbury, Fremantle Court offers high-quality nursing, dementia, residential and respite care for older people. With stunning views of the Chiltern Hills and beautiful gardens that welcome visiting wildlife, our home is a place of comfort, companionship and expert care.
Specialist care with a personal touch
At Fremantle Court, residents receive expert care from a skilled, compassionate team who get to know them - their needs, their stories, and what brings them joy. Whether someone is living with dementia or requires nursing or residential support, we create personalised care plans that evolve as needs change.
We work in close partnership with local GPs, physiotherapists, district nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care, every day.
A home full of life, indoors and out
There’s always something to enjoy at Fremantle Court. From summer garden games and film nights in our on-site cinema, to quiet afternoons with a book or wildlife spotting from the lounge, life here offers just the right balance of activity and calm.
Residents are encouraged to join in at their own pace - and help shape the activities on offer. We host a wide range of activities, from croquet and crazy golf to Paralympic-themed celebrations, armchair travel experiences, and foreign language pen pal programmes.
Comfort and independence
Each of our 90 en-suite bedrooms is bright, spacious, and designed with comfort in mind. Some ground floor rooms even open onto private patio gardens. Communal lounges, dining areas, and a welcoming café offer places to socialise or relax, while quiet corners provide space for peace and reflection.
Our enclosed gardens are a much-loved feature - ideal for fresh air, a chat with family, or tending to raised flower beds. Indoors, residents can also enjoy a hair salon, activity spaces, and a welcoming bistro for visitors.
For people, not profit
Fremantle Court is proud to be part of The Orders of St John Care Trust, a charitable not-for-profit organisation. That means we reinvest into improving our care, supporting our teams, and making life richer for the people who call our homes theirs.
With no shareholders, our priorities are simple: dignity, compassion, and quality of life for every resident.

The carers were extremely professional and used every skill and effort in looking after my wife. She was carefully supervised and supported, both mentally and physically and was made to feel as much at home as it was possible to do. They also showed great care and support for me and I was welcomed as a friend and family member every time I visited. It was my home as well. They were not just carers, they were friends and family to my wife and myself.
Husband of Resident, Fremantle Court
Whether it’s wet or dry outside, we at OSJCT feel that activities are essential in providing the best caring environment to live in.
Hobbies don’t simply stop when living with us at Fremantle Court. We have a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator who works closely with our residents to create a programme of fulfilling activities and events, tailored around each resident’s requests, hobbies and interests. The programme of events and activities provide a source of fun and laughter, to help each resident live their life to the full and make new friendships.
We are also fortunate to have the support of many volunteers of all ages from the local community, strengthening our links to this thriving market town. Here is a sample of activities on offer:
- Trips to garden centres, cafés, pub’s, sporting events, National Trust parks, wildlife parks, aquariums and museums
- Visit from Pets as Therapy Dogs
- Exercise and wellness activities, for example Seated Yoga, Zumba
- Fun activities with the local toddler and nursery group
- Board game competitions and quizzes
- Gardening
- Arts and crafts
- Communal Church services
With so many well-being activities for body and mind on offer, we also recognise that everyone needs some personal space for relaxation and mindfulness for personal reflection. The cosy lounges offer an opportunity for some quiet time or to host family and friends.
And that’s not all:
We’ve had silent discos, hoe downs, Chinese banquets, Oscar parties and so much more.
Many of the activities feature Reminiscence Therapy to aid those living with Dementia to remember events, people and places using sight, touch, taste, smell and sound.
The talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals on site daily from our own kitchens. We source quality produce for our excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. All-day dining is available for lighter meals and snacks and all dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences.
Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join us. The menus change daily and the kettle is always on. Our chef bakes every day so there is always a fresh cake for residents, friends and families to enjoy.
Each of the households has their own small kitchen dining room where residents can take their meals if they wish. Residents are also encouraged to help prepare their own food and to make snacks whenever they choose.
