Located in the heart of Princes Risborough, Icknield Court is a welcoming, purpose-built care home providing high-quality residential and dementia care for older people. Part of The Orders of St John Care Trust, a not-for-profit care provider, we reinvest in what matters most - exceptional care, dedicated teams, and a warm, homely environment.

Our experienced team offers specialist care for older people, including those living with dementia, as well as short-term respite care. We work closely with each resident and their loved ones to create personalised care plans that are reviewed regularly to meet changing needs with kindness, dignity and respect.

As a not-for-profit organisation, our focus is on people, not profit - enabling us to provide consistent, high-quality care that families can trust.

A warm and welcoming home environment

Icknield Court has 90 en-suite bedrooms arranged over six wings, giving a strong sense of community while maintaining privacy. Residents can personalise their rooms with familiar furnishings and enjoy a variety of modern, accessible communal areas - from lounges and dining spaces to a coffee shop and quiet rooms.

Two enclosed courtyard gardens and a large balcony offer safe, relaxing outdoor spaces for socialising, walking or gardening. Inside and out, our home is designed to support well-being and independence.

Living life to the full

Residents can take part in a wide range of activities, including music sessions, arts and crafts, gardening and regular events with local schools and churches. Freshly prepared meals are served daily, using local produce where possible, and visitors are always welcome to join at mealtimes.

We’re a pet-friendly home and also offer on-site hairdressing and access to a range of local healthcare services, including GPs, physiotherapists, chiropodists and more.

Our CQC Statement

Icknield Court was last inspected by the CQC in September 2021, while we achieved a Good rating in Effective, the overall rating was Requires Improvement. We are committed to making positive changes and since that inspection, we have taken clear steps to improve. These include appointing a new leadership team, strengthening care processes, introducing new training.

Our Local Authority PAMMS Audit

Icknield Court was recently inspected by the Local Authority in September 2025; we’re delighted to share that we achieved an overall Good rating with an Excellent rating in Involvement and Information domains. A clear reflection of the positive changes we have made to ensure we continue to deliver the highest standard of care. The PAMMS audit is an independent local authority review that assesses our care, how we support our residents and team, and how we provide a safe, person-centred home.

To know that my father is keen to return to his home after a lovely day out with me gives me reassurance of how safe, secure, and happily well-looked after, he is at Icknield Court. I have peace of mind knowing he is in the best place for him., I feel heard when talking to staff. His main carer has taken the time to get to know him and his little ways to ease his anxiety. We are comforted to know the hardest decision we as a family had to make moving dad here was not very hard. For that, we will be forever grateful.

Activities

Whether it’s wet or dry outside, we at OSJCT feel that activities are essential in providing the best caring environment to live in.

Hobbies don’t simply stop when living with us at Icknield Court. We have a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator who works closely with our residents to create a programme of fulfilling activities and events, tailored around each resident’s requests, hobbies and interests. The programme of events and activities provide a source of fun and laughter, to help each resident live their life to the full and make new friendships.

We are also fortunate to have the support of many volunteers of all ages from the local community, strengthening our links to this thriving market town. Here is a sample of activities on offer:

Trips to garden centres, cafés, pub’s, sporting events, National Trust parks, wildlife parks, aquariums and museums
Visit from Pets as Therapy Dogs
Exercise and wellness activities, for example Seated Yoga, Zumba
Fun activities with the local toddler and nursery group

With so many well-being activities for body and mind on offer, we also recognise that everyone needs some personal space for relaxation and mindfulness for personal reflection. The cosy lounges offer an opportunity for some quiet time or to host family and friends.

And that’s not all:

We’ve had silent discos, hoe downs, Chinese banquets, Oscar parties and so much more.

Many of the activities feature Reminiscence Therapy to aid those living with Dementia to remember events, people and places using sight, touch, taste, smell and sound.

Food

The talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals on site daily from our own kitchens. We source quality produce for our excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. All-day dining is available for lighter meals and snacks and all dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences.

Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join us. The menus change daily and the kettle is always on. Our chef bakes every day so there is always a fresh cake for residents, friends and families to enjoy.

Each of the households has their own small kitchen dining room where residents can take their meals if they wish. Residents are also encouraged to help prepare their own food and to make snacks whenever they choose.

Care fees vary depending on the level of care required, and this will be confirmed upon completion of a care assessment prior to moving into the home.

Our home charges self-funder rates for the services we provide. We accept third party top ups for individuals funded by the Local Authority up to the self-funder rate.
