Situated in a quiet residential area of Aylesbury, Lewin House provides high-quality nursing care for older people, including those living with dementia, as well as respite support. Part of The Orders of St John Care Trust, a not-for-profit care provider, our focus is always on the individual - supporting each person with kindness, respect and dignity in a welcoming and professional setting.
Personalised nursing care, 24 hours a day
At Lewin House, every resident benefits from a personalised care plan tailored to their unique needs, regularly reviewed and delivered by a skilled and compassionate nursing team. With four dedicated nursing wings and 70 fully equipped en-suite rooms, our home is designed to support both day-to-day and complex care requirements.
We believe care should enable people to live well and with purpose - and that starts with listening. Every person in our care is treated as an individual, with dignity, choice and independence at the heart of what we do.

Community, activities and everyday life
From meaningful activities to quiet companionship, life at Lewin House is rich with opportunities to stay active and connected. Our dedicated team organises a varied events programme to suit a wide range of interests and abilities.
Freshly prepared meals are cooked on-site using locally sourced ingredients where possible. Menus reflect resident preferences and dietary needs, and mealtimes are sociable occasions enjoyed together in our dining areas. Visitors are always welcome to join.
Additional support and specialist services
Lewin House works in partnership with local health professionals to ensure every resident has access to the services they need - including GPs, physiotherapists, opticians, chiropodists and dieticians. Each resident also has a personal key worker and access to regular religious services.
We’re proud to be a pet-friendly home, welcoming animal companions as part of our extended family. And with a professional on-site salon, a fresh haircut or pamper session is always just around the corner.
For people, not profit
As part of The Orders of St John Care Trust, we’re proud to be a charitable, not-for-profit provider. We reinvest straight back into our care homes - whether that’s new equipment, specialist training or improving resident activities and environments.
It’s our way of keeping the focus where it belongs; on the people who live and work here.

My grandmother unfortunately had to move into a care home unexpectedly. However, despite it being a big change for my gran, the staff at Lewin House were exceptional. The love and support they provided for my gran was second to none. Everyone made my gran feel so comfortable from the day she came and made her feel as much like being at home as possible. The facilities at Lewin House are incredible, with there being activities suited to all. We could not recommend Lewin House more.
Granddaughter of Resident, Lewin House
Whether it’s wet or dry outside, we at OSJCT feel that activities are essential in providing the best caring environment to live in.
Hobbies don’t simply stop when living with us at Lewin House. We have a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator who works closely with our residents to create a programme of fulfilling activities and events, tailored around each resident’s requests, hobbies and interests. The programme of events and activities provide a source of fun and laughter, to help each resident live their life to the full and make new friendships.
We are also fortunate to have the support of many volunteers of all ages from the local community, strengthening our links to this thriving market town. Here is a sample of activities on offer:
- Trips to garden centres, cafés, pub’s, sporting events, National Trust parks, wildlife parks, aquariums and museums
- Visit from Pets as Therapy Dogs
- Exercise and wellness activities, for example Seated Yoga, Zumba
- Fun activities with the local toddler and nursery group
- Board game competitions and quizzes
- Gardening
- Arts and crafts
- Communal Church services
With so many well-being activities for body and mind on offer, we also recognise that everyone needs some personal space for relaxation and mindfulness for personal reflection. The cosy lounges offer an opportunity for some quiet time or to host family and friends.
And that’s not all:
We’ve had silent discos, hoe downs, Chinese banquets, Oscar parties and so much more.
Many of the activities feature Reminiscence Therapy to aid those living with Dementia to remember events, people and places using sight, touch, taste, smell and sound.
The talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals on site daily from our own kitchens. We source quality produce for our excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. All-day dining is available for lighter meals and snacks and all dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences.
Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join us. The menus change daily and the kettle is always on. Our chef bakes every day so there is always a fresh cake for residents, friends and families to enjoy.
Each of the households has their own small kitchen dining room where residents can take their meals if they wish. Residents are also encouraged to help prepare their own food and to make snacks whenever they choose.
