A talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals. The freshly prepared, delicious dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences. Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join.

The menus change daily, and the kettle is always on, so hot drinks are available throughout the day.

Each of the four households have their own personal kitchen-dining room where residents u can take their meals if they wish. Residents are also encouraged to help prepare their own food, and to make snacks.

Meet the team

Home Manager

Mandi started working in care when she was 18 in a small dual registered nursing home, before going on to becoming a senior carer and mentor. It was very evident from the beginning that Mandi had the knowledge, skills and experience to lead a team and continue her mentoring to help develop new starters with the high standards she was taught right from the beginning. (She forgets how many times her beds had been stripped by the Matron, as they were back then!)

After a couple of years she was offered a managerial role, leading a team over two residential units and after six years as residential care manager, Mandi stepped into the home manager role to lead the home. After nine years at the helm, she was after a new challenge and managed an 80 bedded nursing home. It was here Mandi, with her team, secured a good CQC inspection for the first time in eight years. She also gained an accreditation for the dementia care delivered, and then the home went on to win a National South West award for its dementia care.

Mandi joined the Trust in 2017, and with the home's first 'Good' CQC rating, she has high aspirations for the home's future and hopes to secure many awards with her team.

Customer Relations Manager

Penny joined The Lakes Care Centre in August 2019 with a vast amount of experience in customer service. Following her degree in business studies Penny worked in London for many years for a major hotel company and for ITV and wanted to continue that ‘hands on’ level of customer service when she moved to Gloucestershire.

Penny enjoys speaking to families and finding out how she can make a real difference in supporting them and their loved ones, she welcomes them into the home and shows that life at The Lakes Care Centre is a life well lived.

When Penny isn’t at work she can be found walking in the countryside, at the theatre, listening to live music or eating out with friends and family.

Activities Co-ordinator

Annie joined The Lakes Care Centre as an Activities Co-ordinator in November 2019. Annie has 8 years’ experience working as a carer where she enjoyed spending time with residents and the relationship that built from hearing their life stories.  Annie finds the role of Activities Co-ordinator exciting and enjoys the joy it brings when a resident accomplishes something that they didn’t think they could do or simply seeing residents enjoying themselves, seeing them smile or hearing them laugh.

Outside of work Annie loves spending time with family and friends, playing darts and taking care of her garden. When Annie has some downtime, she enjoys a good book or completing a craft project.

Head of Dementia Care

Samrit Kaeokon joined The Lakes Care Centre in January 2021 with over 4 years’ experience working in care. Sam has previously worked in domiciliary care where he worked as a care worker before working his way up to a senior carer.

Sam enjoys working in the beautiful surroundings of The Lakes Care Centre, he has enjoyed getting to know the residents and loves the variety of each day bringing a new challenge.

Sam loves to make residents smile and getting involved with activities, Sam says "It always makes my day when the residents smile back, and I know they are happy”.

Outside of work Sam enjoys cycling, walking and exploring new places.
