Delicious, Home Cooked Meals The talented cook and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals on site daily from our own kitchens. We source quality produce for our excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. All-day dining is available for lighter meals and snacks and all dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences.

Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join us. The menus change daily, and the kettle is always on. Our chef bakes every day so there is always a fresh cake to enjoy.

Each of the households has their own small kitchen dining room where residents can take their meals if they wish. Residents are also encouraged to help prepare their own food and to make snacks whenever they choose.

Meet the team

Home Manager

The fourty two residents at Seymour House are looked after by a highly dedicated team of over 50 staff, including shift leaders, carers, administrators and ancillary staff.

They are led by the manager who is supported by a Head of Care and a team of Care Leaders.

Home Manager, Dawn Wallburton, started her care career in 1988, working as a care assistant in the privately owned Shaw House in Melksham. When the owner closed the home in 2000 she joined the Miles Care Agency in Melksham as a Carer. This career move fitted Dawn very well, as she was now also raising her young family. During the next two years whilst working for the Agency, she worked in many Care Homes around Wiltshire.

Dawn returned to full time care work in 2002 by joining the disability nursing home Cote House in Chippenham. In 2005, she completed her City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Care. As she wished to continue learning and improving her care knowledge, Dawn was employed by the care company Community Access Network, as a Senior Support Worker. This was a new challenge for Dawn, as the job involved caring for and promoting independent living.

In November 2006, Dawn started her now long term, employment with The Orders of St John Care Trust. Initially she started as a Carer at Seymour House in Chippenham. Dawn’s desire to constantly learn and improve her care knowledge resulted in several internal promotions. In 2010 she became the Head of Care at Seymour House. By this time, Dawn had achieved her City and Guilds NVQ Level 4 in Health & Social Care and the Building Leadership Capability Certificate. In March 2010, Dawn became the home manager at another OSJCT home, Marden Court, in Calne. Having now moved back to Seymour House, this time as home manager, Dawn demands a very high standard of care from her staff, whilst also encouraging and guiding them, to further their own qualifications and knowledge of care, as she has done throughout her career.

Care Leader

Luan Mitchell has worked in the care sector for 8 years since April 2013. Starting her career as a Housekeeper, then becoming a Carer.

From this position, Luan developed a real passion for elderly care and making a difference to those she cared for. Luan then progressed to become a Care Leader at Athelstan House. Gaining specific qualifications and training in residential and dementia care, she had a desire to progress further within the Trust.

Luan has now started in a new role as the Head of Care at Seymour House. Luan loves her new role and works with a very passionate and committed team. Luan is dedicated to ensuring the residents we care for receive the highest standard of care. In her role, Luan supports and supervises the care team to promote a person-centred approach and ensure residents wishes are respected. When not working, Luan enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as going on walks.

Activities Co-ordinator

Hayley joined the Trust in 2001 after previously working at Seymour House for Wilts Council. Hayley worked as a night carer for many years whilst her children were young and then switched to become an Activities Co-Ordinator around six years ago.

Hayley loves her job and also enjoys helping out with care shifts when she is needed.
