Care you can feel confident in

Visiting Southfield House, I always feel welcomed by the staff, who are devoted to their work, and caring to all the residents. I also notice the happiness in my friend, who has settled in his room, enjoying the food, which is so rewarding and appreciated. The weekly activities are a credit to the organisers and would recommend Southfield House to everyone.

Friend of Resident, Southfield House

Whether it’s wet or dry outside, we at OSJCT feel that activities are essential in providing the best caring environment to live in.

Hobbies don’t simply stop when living with us at Southfield House. We have a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator who works closely with our residents to create a programme of fulfilling activities and events, tailored around each resident’s requests, hobbies and interests. The programme of events and activities provide a source of fun and laughter, to help each resident live their life to the full and make new friendships.

We are also fortunate to have the support of many volunteers of all ages from the local community, strengthening our links to this thriving town. Here is a sample of activities on offer:

  • Trips to garden centres, cafés, pubs, sporting events, National Trust parks, wildlife parks, aquariums and museums.
  • Visit from Pets as Therapy Dogs
  • Exercise and wellness activities, for example Seated Yoga, Zumba
  • Board game competitions and quizzes
  • Music therapy sessions
  • Gardening
  • Arts and crafts
  • Communal Church services

With so many well-being activities for body and mind on offer, we also recognise that everyone needs some personal space for relaxation and mindfulness for personal reflection. The cosy lounges offer an opportunity for some quiet time or to host family and friends.

And that’s not all:

We’ve had silent discos, hoe downs, Chinese banquets, Oscar parties and so much more.

Many of the activities feature Reminiscence Therapy to aid those living with Dementia to remember events, people and places using sight, touch, taste, smell and sound.

The talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals on site daily from our own kitchens. We source quality produce for our excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. All-day dining is available for lighter meals and snacks and all dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences.

Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join us. The menus change daily and the kettle is always on. Our chef bakes every day so there is always a fresh cake for residents, friends and family to enjoy.

Residents are also encouraged to help prepare their own food and to make snacks whenever they choose.

Pauline King

Home Manager

My name is Pauline King, and I’m proud to be the Home Manager here at Southfield House, having stepped into the role officially at the end of April 2025. Prior to this, I worked as the Night Care Shift Leader at Southfield, where I developed a strong understanding of the home, our residents, and the dedicated team who care for them.

My journey into the care sector began in the 1980s. At the time, I was working as a checkout supervisor for a large supermarket chain. I used to see carers out in the community, going about their work with such warmth and pride – it made a lasting impression on me. Inspired by their joy and purpose, I decided to take a leap into care. I began working with a local authority and have never looked back.

Since then, I’ve worked in several care homes in London and beyond, always striving to grow and develop in my career. Along the way, I’ve completed various qualifications, including a degree and diploma in social sciences, inspired in part by some of the remarkable residents I’ve cared for – including former headteachers and professionals who encouraged me to pursue further learning.

What I love most about my job is the people. We have a wonderful, compassionate team here at Southfield House, as well as a truly special group of residents and relatives. It’s a privilege to be part of a home where care, kindness, and respect are at the heart of everything we do. While challenges come with the role, I embrace them, knowing they’re part of building a better, stronger service.

My ambition in this role is to make a meaningful difference – to continue leading Southfield House on a positive path, building on our strengths and supporting the team to deliver the highest standards of care.

Head of care

My name is Louise, and I am the Head of Care at Southfield House. I began working at Southfield House in April 2015, and I have been in multiple job roles during my time here at Southfield House, and I have enjoyed each role.                                                                                                                                                                                                                B

Before starting here at Southfield House, I worked within the Childcare sector, and then I worked in the community with elderly care.

I first became interested in pursuing a career in care when my mother looked after my Nan when she became unable to care for herself. I witnessed my mother care for my Nan until my Nan came to the end of her life. This inspired me to ensure that other individuals received the same loving care that my Nan did.

I enjoy working for OSJCT, there is always opportunity to further your career, the Executives ensure that our residents receive the best care and that all staff are listened too. OSJCT believe in person centred care, which is so important, and they also ensure that all employees are paid above the national minimum wage.

I love my job, working alongside fantastic people, and being part of our resident’s lives. To put a smile on someone’s face is the most rewarding thing you can do.

Activities Coordinator

My name is Lucy, I'm the Activities Coordinator at Southfield House, Spalding.

My previous career was as a paediatric nurse in the NHS, I left to bring up my children and when the youngest started school I wanted to return to a caring role but in my local area and Southfield House was my first choice, as I had heard many lovely things about the home.
I have worked my up at Southfield from a bank carer, to senior carer and night carer. During the pandemic, I left for a short time and return to the NHS to deliver vaccines to vulnerable patients as a community nurse. I returned to the home after the pandemic as an activities' coordinator in 2022, because the Trust is very welcoming, supportive and as a charity the trust reinvests to provide the best care for residents.
Furthermore, I was enthusiastic about the activities' coordinator role, and the skills and experience I already have in caring to transfer to the role. I take my role as activities coordinator seriously as I am always striving to promote meaningful activities that are stimulating, fun and supportive for the residents.
There are so many ways to engage residents in these activities as everyone has different interests and abilities, no day is ever the same, and I am enjoying finding more ways for us to celebrate life together in our home community, and to connect with the wider community like recently taking part in Spalding flower parade which brought back so many lovely memories and was so much fun too.

Care fees vary depending on the level of care required, and this will be confirmed upon completion of a care assessment prior to moving into the home.
