Set in a beautiful Grade II listed castle, our home environment has been designed to enhance the quality of life for our residents and incorporates a number of features to promote warmth and a sense of tranquillity. St Wilfrids Priory Care Home specialises in Residential and Respite Care.

The home has been designed with wellbeing and comfort in mind. A cosy lounge and seating areas are available to relax in, as are the secure gardens to take advantage of sunny days.

St Wilfrid’s Priory Care Home offers a delightful home environment split across two floors. The private bed-sitting rooms take advantage of the stunning views and offer a peaceful oasis. The home offers large comfortable homely living areas with stunning views of the historic castle and gardens, where residents can join in with the wide range of activities taking place on a daily basis.

The individual bedrooms each offer a sitting area, an emergency 24 hour call system and plenty of space for residents personalise rooms. Some rooms have en-suite facilities, wet rooms and kitchenette areas.

- Testing for employees and residents means that asymptomatic cases are picked up early.

- Vibrant, fun and socially distanced social bubble activities for all residents.

About the team
All of our Care Team are professionally qualified and trained to the highest standards. Every member of the team holds the Care Certificate. The Care Team at St Wilfrid’s Priory Care Home includes a Home Manager, Dementia Lead, Activities Co-ordinator, Carers, Admiral Nurse, Care Leads, Housekeeping Team, Chef and Handy Person.
Meet the teamFood
A talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals. The freshly prepared, delicious dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences. Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join.
The menus change daily, and the kettle is always on, so hot drinks are available throughout the day.
You are free to take your meals in your room if you wish or you can join other residents in the main dining hall to enjoy your food in a more social environment.
Activities
Whether it’s wet or dry outside, we at OSJCT feel that activities are essential in providing the best caring environment to live in.
Hobbies don’t simply stop when living with us at St Wilfrid’s Priory Care Home. We have a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator who works closely with our residents to create a programme of fulfilling activities and events, tailored around each resident’s requests, hobbies and interests. The programme of events and activities provide a source of fun and laughter, to help each resident live their life to the full and make new friendships.
We are also fortunate to have the support of many volunteers of all ages from the local community, strengthening our links to this thriving market town. Here is a sample of activities on offer:
- Trips to garden centres, cafés, pubs, sporting events, National Trust parks, wildlife parks, aquariums and museums.
- Visit from Pets as Therapy Dogs
- Exercise and wellness activities, for example Seated Yoga, Zumba
- Fun activities with ‘Messy Miniatures’, the local toddler group

With so many well-being activities for body and mind on offer, we also recognise that everyone needs some personal space for relaxation and mindfulness for personal reflection. The cosy lounges offer an opportunity for some quiet time or to host family and friends.
And that’s not all:
We’ve had silent discos, hoe downs, Chinese banquets, Oscar parties and so much more.
Many of the activities feature Reminiscence Therapy to aid those living with Dementia to remember events, people and places using sight, touch, taste, smell and sound.

Care fees vary depending on the level of care required and this will be confirmed upon completion of a care assessment prior to moving into the home.

Our home charges self-funder rates for the services we provide. We accept third party top ups for individuals funded by the Local Authority up to the self-funder rate.

Meet the team
Our homes' professional services are provided by the Management team, Carers, Nurses and Dementia support teams (where required), Admiral Nurses, Support Workers, Activities Co-ordinators, Housekeeping, Handy Person, Administrators and the home's Chef and Catering team. We also have health professional support from Doctors, Nurses and personal services who will regularly come into the home.

Graham Pritchard
Home Manager
Sarah joined OSJCT in 2021 as Home Manager having started her career in mental health as an intern for NHS Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust. She worked in various role across the assessment and treatment service, Dementia Services, Crisis Team and memory assessment team before moving to work in care homes.
Sarah believes the Trust’s values match her own and is glad to work with the team at St Wilfrid’s Priory, who she has found to be so dedicated to providing the best care for the residents.
Sarah holds a degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Philosophy and will begin a doctorate in Social Care in October 2021.
Outside work, Sarah keeps fit and strong by running in the woods or walking her dogs. She also loves spending time with her family and cheering on her children playing their sports at weekends.
Admin Assistant
Kirsty has been working at St Wilfrid's since 2014.
Kirsty works part time at St Wilfrid’s to assist with office duties and financial matters within the Home.
Handyman
Graham is the handyman at St Wilfrid's Priory and his jolly voice can often be heard around the home.
He jokes that his nickname is, "Ah, Graham!" or "Graham, can you just . . ." because his work is so varied and he's happy to help wherever he can. Graham is passionate about making sure the residents have everything they need, and creating the lovely stripes on the lawn.
In his spare time, you'll find Graham out walking on the South Downs or the Brecon Beacons, or tending to one of his motorbikes.
