A warm welcome to our home
Set in a beautiful Grade II listed castle, our unique care home has been designed to enhance the quality of life for our residents, to promote a feeling of warmth and a sense of tranquility. St Wilfrid's Priory Care Home specialises in residential and respite Care.
- Residential Care
- Respite Care
- Day Care
St Wilfrid’s Priory Care Home offers a delightful home environment split across two floors, designed with wellbeing and comfort in mind. The individual bedrooms each offer a sitting area, an emergency 24 hour call system and plenty of space to allow residents to personalise rooms. Some rooms have en-suite facilities, wet rooms and kitchenette areas. They offer a peaceful oasis, and we encourage residents to make them their own with their favourite belongings like pictures and trinkets, or blankets and cushions.
The home offers large, comfortable, homely living areas with stunning views of the historic castle and gardens, where residents can join in with the wide range of activities taking place on a daily basis.
Life at St Wilfrid's Priory is about residents living the life they want for themselves. We encourage residents to get involve with the activities we offer onsite, as well as getting out and about. We organise a variety of activities in the home, and arrange trips to the local area and further afield, such as the theatre next door, or trips to beach or the castle itself.
We are very proud of our outdoor space at St Wilfrid's Priory. From taking tea on the patio to growing vegetables in our allotment, there is a way for everyone to enjoy the garden and it's a lovely space to entertain families and guests, especially in the warmer months.
There are a great many flowers and shrubs in the beds around our lawns, which are perfect for games like boules and croquet, and we have a summer house for those who prefer to spectate. The well-established trees provide shade in the hottest weather, and are a haven for wildlife all year round.

We’ve had silent discos, hoe downs, Chinese banquets, Oscar parties and so much more.

Handyman
Graham is the handyman at St Wilfrid's Priory and his jolly voice can often be heard around the home.
He jokes that his nickname is, "Ah, Graham!" or "Graham, can you just . . ." because his work is so varied and he's happy to help wherever he can. Graham is passionate about making sure the residents have everything they need, and creating the lovely stripes on the lawn.
In his spare time, you'll find Graham out walking on the South Downs or the Brecon Beacons, or tending to one of his motorbikes.
Kitchen Assistant
Rhys Saunders began working with OSJCT and St Wilfrid’s Priory at the beginning of December 2022. He started working at a Bank housekeeper and found that he liked working with the team and the residents so took a permanent role in the kitchen. As a kitchen assistant, Rhys plays an important role in creating the delicious, nutritious meals that our residents so enjoy.
Laundry Assistant
Amanda Scarbrow has been with the Trust and St Wilfrid’s Priory since Oct 2022. She works as a laundry assistant and loves her job because each day is varied. Amanda enjoys chatting to the residents and have a laugh with them. She gets great satisfaction from cleaning and ironing the residents’ clothes and repairing them if needed, and she enjoys being part of a caring team.
Care Leader
Tania Woodburn started her career with St Wilfrid’s Priory four years ago as a night carer. Since then, she has progressed to become a care lead and has been doing that job since 2021. She enjoys her role thanks to the fantastic team and lovely residents who make St Wilfrid's a very special place to work. Tania also loves having the castle on our doorstep!

Cecilia Raggett is one of our carers at St Wilfrid’s Priory. She has been with the Trust for over 15 years. Ces, as we know her, enjoys the variety that comes with her role and loves seeing the residents happy and smiling, and having fun. Ces has had many job roles over the years, including housekeeper, laundry assistant, and activity co-ordinator. Ces loves the friendly home-from-home atmosphere at St Wilfrid's.
