A LITTLE ABOUT MELKSHAM GARDENS
Our new purpose-built home on Longleaze Lane will provide residential, nursing and dementia care, alongside respite and day care.
The home will feature 80 en-suite bedrooms, landscaped gardens, private dining, a cinema, gym and wellbeing facilities, activities room, salon and spa, and family accommodation. Innovative technology, including circadian lighting and acoustic monitoring, will support our person-centred approach to care.
Designed around residents’ comfort, wellbeing and independence, Melksham Gardens will provide a welcoming environment where residents can feel safe, valued and supported.
A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY
Joining a brand-new home is exciting – but it is also different.
Depending on the progress of the home, you may join us during the preparation and mobilisation period or as we welcome our first residents. Your exact start date may therefore be subject to change and could be later than initially anticipated.
We’re looking for an experienced carer who is comfortable with change and excited to help shape a home from the very beginning. Your skills, knowledge and leadership will be invaluable as the team comes together and establishes the standards, routines and culture of Melksham Gardens.
As a Care Leader, you’ll play an important role in supporting colleagues, developing a positive team culture and ensuring residents receive outstanding care from the moment the home opens. This is an opportunity to make a real difference, helping build a team that takes pride in providing compassionate, person-centred care.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you an experienced carer or senior carer with a passion for making a difference?
Can you lead and motivate a small team to deliver outstanding care to our residents, encouraging colleagues to always do their best?
Our care teams make a real difference every day, and your professionalism, kindness and compassion will be at the heart of everything you do. Supporting the Home Manager and leading a team of carers, you’ll help plan and deliver care that gives residents a real sense of security, dignity and independence.
You’ll ensure care plans are regularly reviewed through continuous assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, helping to ensure that each resident’s individual needs are recognised and met. You’ll balance supporting your team effectively with maintaining a strong focus on residents’ wellbeing and the quality of care they receive.
You’ll also provide guidance and encouragement to colleagues, helping them develop their skills, build confidence and maintain high standards. Whether supporting new team members, delegating tasks or helping resolve day-to-day challenges, you’ll lead by example and promote a positive and supportive working environment.
As part of a brand-new home, you’ll have the opportunity to help establish effective ways of working, support colleagues as the team grows and embed a culture where residents are treated with dignity, respect and compassion.
ABOUT YOU
You’ll have previous experience working in a residential care setting and hold an NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or have achieved NVQ Level 2 and be prepared to study towards Level 3.
Previous supervisory experience, such as delegating tasks, supporting inductions for new starters and conducting one-to-one meetings, would be beneficial but is not essential.
What matters most is that you’re a positive role model with excellent communication skills and a natural ability to build positive relationships with others. You’ll be a supportive and approachable leader who can motivate colleagues to deliver the best possible care to residents at all times.
You’ll also be confident taking charge, using your initiative to resolve problems and responding effectively to queries. With a flexible and proactive approach, you’ll be comfortable adapting to changing needs and supporting your team through the challenges and opportunities of establishing a new home.
Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care and enthusiastic about the opportunity to help build a strong team and create a home where residents and colleagues feel valued and supported.
AND IN RETURN
The Trust is a great place to work. We’ve been providing care for almost 1,000 years and we’re currently the second largest not-for-profit provider in the UK. Not-for-profit means that we reinvest every penny we make into our residents, colleagues and the care homes we live and work in.
We’re committed to supporting our colleagues to grow and develop, offering opportunities for career progression and clinical training within a nurturing, engaging and rewarding environment.
Here are some of the benefits you’ll enjoy as a valued member of our team:
- 30 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)
- A Company pension
- Free uniform
- Free DBS
- Higher rates of pay at weekends
- Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
- Care Worker Charity membership for wellbeing and financial aid
- Refer a Friend scheme, rewarding you up to £1,000 for every recommendation who successfully starts working for us
- Blue Light Card and “My Rewards” programme, offering discounts on shopping, days out, restaurants and much more
