A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY
Joining a brand-new home is exciting – but it is also different.
Depending on the progress of the home, you may join us during the preparation and mobilisation period or as we welcome our first residents. Your exact start date may therefore be subject to change and could be later than initially anticipated.
As Deputy Home Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Home Manager as the home prepares to open and begins welcoming residents. You’ll help bring the team together, establish effective ways of working and embed the standards, routines and culture that will make Melksham Gardens a truly exceptional place to live and work.
We’re looking for someone who is adaptable, proactive and comfortable with change, with the leadership skills and experience to help turn our vision into reality.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you a passionate Deputy Home Manager, motivated and driven to make a difference?
Can you combine your exceptional care skills with the commercial acumen needed to support occupancy, maintain high standards of care and lead a team effectively?
As Deputy Home Manager, you’ll support the Home Manager with the day-to-day management of the home, helping to ensure that residents receive the highest standards of person-centred care while the team delivers a safe, welcoming and fulfilling environment.
You’ll be responsible for rota planning, employee recruitment, induction and mandatory training, ensuring that residents’ needs are recognised, assessed and met wherever possible. You’ll also monitor and manage individual employee performance, supporting colleagues to develop their skills and addressing any issues as they arise through the appropriate channels.
As part of a new home, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the development of processes, support the introduction of new colleagues and help establish a strong team ethos. Working closely with the Home Manager, you’ll play an important part in ensuring the home is ready to welcome residents and deliver excellent care from day one.
Some days will bring challenges as the home and team develop, but you’ll also have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to a home that residents, families and colleagues can be proud of.
ABOUT YOU
You’ll have a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent, and be willing to work towards Level 4 or 5. You’ll also have previous management experience in an elderly care setting, with the confidence to roll up your sleeves and work as a proactive member of the team.
You’ll bring a good understanding of care home operations, alongside some marketing and finance experience to help support occupancy and manage costs. With excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, you’ll be committed to promoting and developing the highest standards of care.
Most importantly, you’ll be adaptable, organised and enthusiastic about the opportunity to help establish a new care home. You’ll be confident supporting colleagues through change, building positive working relationships and creating an environment where residents and team members feel valued, respected and supported.
AND IN RETURN
The Trust is a great place to work. We’ve been providing care for almost 1,000 years and we’re currently the second largest not-for-profit provider in the UK. Not-for-profit means that we reinvest every penny we make into our residents, colleagues and the care homes we live and work in.
We’re committed to supporting our colleagues to grow and develop, offering opportunities for career progression and training within a nurturing, engaging and rewarding environment.
Here are some of the benefits you’ll enjoy as a valued member of our team:
- 30 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)
- A Company pension
- Life assurance
- Free uniform
- Free DBS
- Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
- Blue Light Card and “My Rewards” programme, offering discounts on shopping, days out, restaurants and much more
