A LITTLE ABOUT MELKSHAM GARDENS
Our new purpose-built home on Longleaze Lane will provide residential, nursing and dementia care, alongside respite and day care.
The home will feature 80 en-suite bedrooms, landscaped gardens, private dining, a cinema, gym and wellbeing facilities, activities room, salon and spa, and family accommodation. Innovative technology, including circadian lighting and acoustic monitoring, will support our person-centred approach to care.
Designed around residents’ comfort, wellbeing and independence, Melksham Gardens will provide a welcoming environment where residents can enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle, make meaningful connections and feel part of a thriving community.
A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY
Joining a brand-new home is exciting – but it is also different.
Depending on the progress of the home, you may join us during the preparation and mobilisation period or as we welcome our first residents. Your exact start date may therefore be subject to change and could be later than initially anticipated.
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Events Manager who is excited to help shape a home from the very beginning. Your creativity, leadership and organisational skills will be invaluable as you develop an engaging programme of events and activities that reflects our residents’ interests and brings people together.
This is a fantastic opportunity to establish the events programme at Melksham Gardens, build strong relationships with the local community and help create a vibrant home where residents, families and visitors can enjoy memorable experiences from the moment we open.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Events Manager will play a pivotal role in delivering a first-class experience for our residents.
As Events Manager, you’ll take the lead in coordinating and managing all aspects of our in-house events and activities programme. Events and activities are central to our commitment to providing an enriching lifestyle for residents, helping them maintain their interests, enjoy new experiences and live life to the full.
You’ll develop a varied programme of events and activities that reflects the calendar year, national celebrations and, most importantly, the interests and preferences of our residents. From special occasions and themed events to daily activities and excursions, you’ll ensure there are plenty of opportunities for residents to socialise, participate and make lasting memories.
You’ll manage and support a team of Events Assistants, providing direction and encouragement to ensure activities and events are delivered to a consistently high standard. Working closely with colleagues across the home, you’ll coordinate arrangements, collaborate with external suppliers and ensure every detail contributes to an excellent resident experience.
Building strong relationships with the local community will be an essential part of your role. You’ll seek opportunities to develop partnerships, welcome community groups and promote Melksham Gardens as a vibrant and inclusive place to live, work and visit.
You’ll also manage budgets, evaluate the success of events and activities, and ensure residents’ individual interests and participation are reflected in their care plans.
As part of a brand-new home, you’ll have the opportunity to establish the events programme, develop new traditions and create a culture where hospitality, engagement and meaningful experiences are at the heart of everyday life.
ABOUT YOU
You’ll have excellent knowledge of planning and delivering first-class hospitality, activities and events that enrich residents’ lives and help them live life to the full.
You’ll bring positive energy, creativity and a strong resident focus, alongside excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. You’ll be confident leading a team, managing multiple priorities and building relationships with residents, colleagues, external suppliers and the wider community.
Ideally, you’ll have a Level 2 Certificate in Event Planning or equivalent qualification and/or relevant experience.
You’ll also have:
- Proven experience as an Events Manager or in a similar role, preferably within a luxury hospitality or senior living environment.
- Experience planning and delivering regular events and daily activities, both within and outside the home, including excursions.
- Experience developing comprehensive programmes of activities and events at least six months in advance.
- Strong budget management and negotiation skills.
- The ability to record and evaluate the success of events and activities, including reflecting outcomes in individual care plans.
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends and public holidays as required to deliver a first-class service.
- The ability to participate in an on-call arrangement.
Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about creating meaningful experiences for older people and understand how activities, social connections and community involvement contribute to residents’ health and wellbeing.
You’ll be proactive, adaptable and full of ideas, with the leadership skills to inspire your team and the enthusiasm to help establish something special. You’ll take pride in delivering exceptional hospitality while building a welcoming community that reflects the spirit and ethos of Melksham Gardens.
