The home will feature 80 en-suite bedrooms, landscaped gardens, private dining, a cinema, gym and wellbeing facilities, activities room, salon and spa, and family accommodation. Innovative technology, including circadian lighting and acoustic monitoring, will support our person-centred approach to care.
Designed around residents’ comfort, wellbeing and independence, Melksham Gardens will provide a welcoming environment where residents can feel at home and enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle.
A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY
Joining a brand-new home is exciting – but it is also different.
Depending on the progress of the home, you may join us during the preparation and mobilisation period or as we welcome our first residents. Your exact start date may therefore be subject to change and could be later than initially anticipated.
We’re looking for someone who is adaptable, enthusiastic and excited to help shape a home from the very beginning. You’ll play an important role in helping establish the kitchen team, creating high standards and ensuring our residents enjoy delicious meals and a positive dining experience from the moment the home opens.
This is a wonderful opportunity to become part of a new team, contribute to the development of the home and help create a place where residents, families and colleagues feel welcome.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re recruiting for Kitchen Assistants to join our passionate, hard-working and friendly catering team, helping to create delicious meals, snacks and drinks for our residents.
You’ll get to know our residents, understand their likes and dislikes and help make mealtimes a highlight of their day. You’ll support the catering team with food preparation, serving meals and drinks, and maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
You’ll help ensure that food is prepared and served to a high standard, following food hygiene and safety procedures and supporting the team to deliver an excellent dining experience.
In joining us, you’ll also become part of our extended family. You’ll work alongside colleagues who are passionate about providing care, warmth and kindness to everyone who lives and works in our homes.
As part of a brand-new home, you’ll have the opportunity to help establish kitchen routines and standards while contributing to a welcoming environment where residents can enjoy great food, good company and a real sense of belonging.
ABOUT YOU
You don’t need previous formal catering experience, as we’ll provide the training you need, although a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate would be helpful.
What matters most is that you enjoy working as part of a team, take pride in your work and have a positive, can-do attitude. You’ll be keen to learn, happy to get involved in a variety of kitchen tasks and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
You’ll have good communication skills and a genuine passion for ensuring our residents receive the best possible service. You’ll also feel confident engaging with older people, taking the time to understand their individual needs and helping make their dining experiences enjoyable.
Most importantly, you’ll be enthusiastic about joining a new home and excited to play your part in creating something special from the very beginning.
AND IN RETURN
The Trust is a great place to work. We’ve been providing care for almost 1,000 years and we’re currently the second largest not-for-profit provider in the UK. Not-for-profit means that we reinvest every penny we make into our residents, colleagues and the care homes we live and work in.
We’re committed to supporting our colleagues to grow and develop, offering training and development opportunities within a nurturing, engaging and rewarding environment.
Here are some of the benefits you’ll enjoy as a valued member of our team:
- 28 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)
- A workplace pension
- Free uniform
- Free DBS
- Higher rates of pay at weekends
- Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
- Refer a Friend scheme, rewarding you up to £1,000 for every recommendation who successfully starts working for us
- Blue Light Card and “My Rewards” programme, offering discounts on shopping, days out, restaurants and much more
BE PART OF THE BEGINNING
If you’re enthusiastic, enjoy working as part of a team and want to help create something special, we’d love to hear from you.
Come and help us make Melksham Gardens a truly exceptional place to live, work and belong, where great food, kindness and hospitality are part of everyday life.
We reserve the right to close this role before the closing date, with no advance notice. We do encourage you to complete an application as soon as possible if interested.
