A LITTLE ABOUT MELKSHAM GARDENS
Our new purpose-built home on Longleaze Lane will provide residential, nursing and dementia care, alongside respite and day care.
The home will feature 80 en-suite bedrooms, landscaped gardens, private dining, a cinema, gym and wellbeing facilities, activities room, salon and spa, and family accommodation. Innovative technology, including circadian lighting and acoustic monitoring, will support our person-centred approach to care.
Designed around residents’ comfort, wellbeing and independence, Melksham Gardens will provide a welcoming environment where residents can feel safe, valued and supported.
A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY
Joining a brand-new home is exciting – but it is also different.
Depending on the progress of the home, you may join us during the preparation and mobilisation period or as we welcome our first residents. Your exact start date may therefore be subject to change and could be later than initially anticipated.
We’re looking for experienced carers who are comfortable with change and excited to help shape a home from the very beginning. Your knowledge, skills and leadership will be invaluable as the team comes together and establishes the standards, routines and culture of Melksham Gardens.
As a Night Care Leader, you’ll play an important role in supporting colleagues, promoting high standards of care and ensuring residents feel safe, comfortable and well cared for throughout the night. This is an opportunity to help establish a strong night team and create a positive culture from the moment the home opens.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you an experienced carer looking to take the next step in your career?
Do you prefer working nights and have the leadership skills to support a team to deliver outstanding care?
Our care teams make a real difference every day, and your professionalism, kindness and compassion will be at the heart of everything you do.
Leading a small team of carers, you’ll help ensure the safety and security of our residents and the home throughout the night. You’ll support your team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care, ensuring residents’ individual needs are met and their dignity, comfort and independence are always respected.
You’ll ensure care plans are regularly reviewed, maintain accurate records and manage your own time and that of your team effectively to support residents’ wellbeing. You’ll also provide guidance and support to colleagues, helping them feel confident in their roles and encouraging them to deliver the best possible care.
Some shifts may be challenging, particularly as we establish a new home, but you’ll also have opportunities to build meaningful relationships, share happy moments and make lasting memories with residents.
As part of a brand-new home, you’ll help establish night-time routines, support colleagues as the team develops and contribute to creating a safe, reassuring environment where residents feel at home.
In joining us, you’ll also become part of our extended family. You’ll work alongside colleagues who are passionate about providing care, warmth and kindness to everyone who lives and works in our homes.
ABOUT YOU
You’ll have an NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or have achieved NVQ Level 2 and be prepared to study towards Level 3.
You’ll also have experience leading a team to deliver care, be keen to progress into a role with greater responsibility and be willing to undertake relevant training to support your career development.
You’ll be a positive role model with excellent communication skills and a natural ability to build positive relationships. As a supportive and approachable leader, you’ll know how to motivate colleagues, encourage teamwork and help your team deliver the highest standards of care.
You’ll be confident taking responsibility during night shifts, able to use your initiative to resolve problems and comfortable adapting to changing circumstances. Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about person-centred care and enthusiastic about helping establish a new home where residents feel safe, respected and supported.
AND IN RETURN
The Trust is a great place to work. We’ve been providing care for almost 1,000 years and we’re currently the second largest not-for-profit provider in the UK. Not-for-profit means that we reinvest every penny we make into our residents, colleagues and the care homes we live and work in.
We’re committed to supporting our colleagues to grow and develop, offering opportunities for career progression and training within a nurturing, engaging and rewarding environment.
Here are some of the benefits you’ll enjoy as a valued member of our team:
- 28 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)
- A Company pension
- Free uniform
- Free DBS
- Higher rates of pay at weekends
- Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
- Care Worker Charity membership for wellbeing and financial aid
