Over 180 people attended this years Summer Party including residents, employees and volunteers. A great day was had by all and we are now looking forward to the next event!

As you entered the venue, you were met by a life sized cut out of her majesty The Queen, followed by a room full of union jack bunting, posters of pictures from various decades and copious amounts of flags.

As the residents and employees from the home started arriving, more vibrancy and colour was added to the room as groups of hippies from the 60’s, Freddie Mercury lookalikes, Flapper girls and members of the Royal family arrived.

The event was kicked off with a lovely street party style lunch including sausage rolls, sandwiches and scones, jam and cream.

During lunch a ‘Guess the amount of sweets in a jar’ competition was rolled out with Barbara Harvie from Chilterns End being the lucky winner.

After lunch we were treated by an hour long show by two lovely ladies from Daisy Productions. They performed a number of great songs and really got the residents involved.

Throughout the event, a couple of our Area Operation Managers were on the lookout for the best dressed male and female residents and staff and the best dressed home.

At the end of the event, the winners were announced as follows:

Best dressed Male resident:

Freddie Mercury aka Richard Smith from Old Station House

Best dressed female resident:

Mary Bareham from Stirlings

Best dressed staff member:

Lorraine Roberts Activity Coordinator from Larkrise

Special mention also to Louise from Meadowcroft and Amy from Madley Park

Best dressed home:

The Meadows

Special mention to Stirlings, Madley Park and Larkrise.

Each received a prize and everyone took home a bag of old fashioned sweets, much to everyone’s delight.

Overall it was a brilliant event with lots of positive feedback.
