Our Annual Volunteers Appreciation Day was held at the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa on 31 March, over 120 guests attended the event

Several long service awards were presented which included:-

Anne Smith who has volunteered at Beckside in Lincoln for 30 years.  Anne has been helping on trips out and escorting residents to hospital appointments.

Derrick Sansom from Gregory House has created an allotment over the 5 years he has been volunteering at the home.

Symon Crump was awarded his 5 year award for the art classes he runs for the residents at Eresby Hall in Spilsby.

Other volunteers receiving awards on the day included 5 Year Volunteers Sheila and Alan Jones from Patchett Lodge in Holbeach, Sheila Watson from Boultham Park House, Pat Bourne from Eresby Hall, Lilly Baldwin and Val Wright from Digby Court in Bourne and Mavis and John Marshall form Skirbeck Court in Boston.

The Head of Volunteering opened the event by showing a montage of pictures of our wonderful volunteers engaged in activities with our residents, this was followed by the presentations which were made by Jill Hughes, Lincolnshire’s Trustee and Dan Hayes, Operations Director delivering a heartfelt closing speech.

Some of our residents visited the London Tower in September to see the Poppies which they thoroughly enjoyed.  To commemorate this wonderful day, the home was given their own Poppy in a special presentation box.

Following the formalities, everyone enjoyed the customary delicious cream team.

The event was a great success and it was lovely to see so many of our volunteers come together to take part in this very special event which recognises the valuable time they are  prepared to donate to enhance the lives of our residents.
