In 1978 resident Rita Scholes from Southfield House in Lincolnshire met the three times world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali.

Rita who was on a 14 day holiday in America with her husband Tom at the time, met Ali at his training headquarters in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania.  Ali heard that they were from England and asked if they would like to have their picture taken with him.

Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr. January 17, 1942 – June 3, 2016) was an American Olympic and professional boxer and activist. He is widely regarded as one of the most significant and celebrated sports figures of the 20th century. From early in his career, Ali was known as an inspiring, controversial and polarizing figure both inside and outside the ring.
