Wiltshire Flower, Vegetable & Craft Show

Our sixth annual Flower, Vegetable & Craft Show took place on Wednesday 9 September, 81 guests including, residents, staff and members of the local community come together for an enjoyable afternoon at the Trowbridge RFC. The purpose of the show is for homes to get together socially, as well as providing an opportunity to showcase their gardening produce, makes and bakes, and handicrafts items.  Homes entered exhibits in four categories including, cabbage, broccoli, carrots and courgettes, a floral display, fruit cake, shortbread and marmalade and handicrafts.

Entries were judged by Gill Acornley & Colleen Russell, Seend WI, Marilyn Mills, Busy Bees Patchwork & Quilting Club, and OSJCT Volunteers, Norma Payne and Maureen & Bob Nix.  Over 28 Rosettes were presented to the first and second placed entries.

Dan Hayes, Acting CEO also presented the awards for our regional Trust in Bloom competition with Brookside receiving the best overall award for the grounds and garden.

The homes had been asked to bring a picnic lunch with them to enjoy whilst the judging took place and Ashwood Care Centre received a prize for the best vintage picnic lunch display.  Musical entertainment was provide by singer Mike Sidaway who played a selection a sing-a-long and dance songs.
