Goodson Lodge, located in Trowbridge, Wiltshire is a specialist home with an environment that has been designed specifically to enhance the quality of life of people living with dementia and incorporates many features to promote reminiscence as therapy.
About the Home
The home has been designed with your wellbeing and comfort in mind with many fantastic facilities. Meet your loved ones for a slice of cake in Polly’s Tea Room, watch one of the classics in our cinema, read a book on the library’s balcony or relax in one of the many comfy lounges.
On sunny days you may choose to step out into our beautiful, secure gardens and there’s plenty to keep you entertained with our regular social activities.
If you’d like a little more privacy, then your own spacious bedroom, with en-suite ‘wet room’ shower facilities, offers a peaceful oasis.
Goodson Lodge offers a wonderful home environment. The private bedrooms are your own personal haven. Rooms are seamlessly divided into four individual households, each accommodating a maximum of sixteen residents. This creates a more intimate feeling of community where real relationships can be formed. Each household includes a bright kitchen diner and two cosy lounges as well as two themed destination lounges.

A friendly, professionally trained team
A friendly, professionally trained team are on hand around the clock to give you the support you need when you need it. If you like to lead a fulfilling and independent lifestyle, we are here to help you, however you wish to spend your day. All of our Care Team are professionally qualified and trained to the highest standards. Every member of the team holds the Care Certificate.
The home team consists of the Home Manager, Deputy Manager, Activity Co-ordinators, Care Leads, Carers, Bursar, Housekeeping Team, Chef and a Handy Person.
Tasty, home cooked meals
A talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals. The freshly prepared, delicious dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences. Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join.
The menus change daily and the kettle is always on, so hot drinks are available throughout the day.
Each of our four households have their own personal kitchen-dining room where you can take your meals if you wish. However, residents may eat wherever they choose. .
There is always a choice of nutritionally balanced dishes and our friendly kitchen team will take time to get to know your favourite dishes so that they can be incorporated into the menu. We also plant fresh produce each year as part of our activities and the fruits of our labour will be used to add extra satisfaction to our dishes. With a little notice we are also happy provide a few extra plates for visiting family and friends.
We understand how important it is to have daily activities to take part in and enjoy.
Our dedicated Activities Co-ordinators organise a wide programme of events around each person’s requests, hobbies and interests. The team will be delighted to assist you to continue with existing hobbies, as well as give you the opportunity to try something new if you would like to.
They make sure everyone can enjoy themselves to the fullest, be that with arts and crafts, a coffee morning or more individual pursuits. Visits from outside entertainers happen regularly and we invite the community in to share the fun as well as getting out and about as often as possible.
Each resident receives one-to-one time with the Activity Co-ordinators and together they will work on their own personal activity plan and goals.
A typical daily activity schedule might include any of the following;
- Tropical animal visit
- Trips on the canal

- Gardening club
- Singing club
- Walking club
- Poetry reading
- Outdoor games
- Cooking and baking
- Pamper session
- Quizzes and board games
- Garden party and BBQ’s
