Food
The talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals on site daily from our own kitchens. We source quality produce for our excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. All-day dining is available for lighter meals and snacks and all dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences.
Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join us. The menus change daily and the kettle is always on. Our chef bakes every day so there is always a fresh cake for residents, families and friends to enjoy.
Residents are also encouraged to help prepare their own food and to make snacks whenever they choose.

Roberta Smart
Activities Co-ordinator
Roberta started working for OSJCT on Feb 14, 2023. She began her career in the care sector at an independent home specialising in Dementia Care, where she was part of a team of Activity and Wellbeing assistants, caring for over 60 residents with varied forms of dementia. What she loves most about her role is that no two days are the same! Everything she does, from planning and scheduling activities through to liaising with outside facilitators, ensures residents are having fun.
Roberta is a performer by nature, so a daily singalong is a must! She says, 'it blows away the cobwebs and gets the heart racing as well as stimulating memories and bringing a smile to everyone’s face. I am also a qualified energy healer and I bring my skills into play with residents daily, supporting emotions and communicating nonverbally. It is such a privilege.'
Roberta has hit the ground running since she started at OSJCT, and one particular highlight was introducing Walks with Hawks to Grevill House. Clare Lott brought her birds of prey and flew them in the dining room; every resident had the chance to hold a bird, get up close and personal, and experience the wonder of these majestic creatures. They haven’t stopped talking about it since!
Outside of work, Roberta is a busy bee; she’s an Improv Comedy performer with Comic Cans Script in Cheltenham; she hosts pub quizzes twice a week in Oxford, and she writes a monthly Parenting column for The Local Answer, a free magazine in Gloucestershire, for the last 9 years.
