OSJCT Moments
With so many precious moments happening in and around our homes each day, what better way to document it than in a weekly, bite-size story that can be shared with and enjoyed by everyone. Here are some of the inspired moments of joy our residents, teams and communities have been appreciating recently.

Frank’s gardening trip
We have a head gardener at Whitefriars! Frank, one of our residents loves to keep our Primrose Garden all neat and tidy. Recently Frank requested some garden tools to help do the jobs, so Sue, one of the Activities Co-ordinators, and Frank went on a shopping trip to Homebase garden centre. Frank enjoyed the trip and bagged some bargains from his shopping list to make the gardening a little easier.

Friends for life
Hilary and Mary enjoy a lovely chat in the early evening time after tea. Hilary and Mary live in the same household, and they love being involved in everything going on there. Hilary has a beautiful singing voice and along with Mary they form the choir called ‘Golden Voices’. Hilary sings a solo part of Edelweiss from the film The Sound of Music and normally steals the show! It is heart-warming to see these friendships flourish. The slight look of mischief on their faces really made the team at Grevill House smile!

Bob's campaign
Did you know that resident Bob at Old Station House once campaigned against Didcot power station over toxic waste?
The power company wanted to use Radley Lakes as a dumping ground but along with other environment supporters, Bob won the case and together they saved the nature reserve. Bob caught up with fellow campaigner Lynn Crowl at a recent coffee afternoon at Abingdon Lock. They discussed the otters that now live there.

Yummy homemade soup
Des has spent the last few months taking care of the vegetable patch every day at Watersmead. He pulled up some of his carrots and parsnips to be made into a homemade soup for everyone to enjoy.

Family photos
Doreen’s family made her a fantastic hardback book of family photos going back to the late 1800s! The book also includes a family tree. Donna, an Activities Co-ordinator at Whitefriars and Doreen sat together to look at the book and talk about past memories.

Sisters at The Lakes Care Centre
The Lakes Care Centre in South Cerney has a real family vibe, which is no surprise with 3 sets of sisters working at the home.
Among the 3 sets of sisters, there are a set of twins, Sarah and Paula and then sisters Rebecca and Emma and Bili and Farrel.
